Venting

Because it's my blog, and it feels like I can't complain anywhere else.
Yesterday, after visiting the post office, I went after Christmas shopping downtown, which was disappointing. One store either didn't have stuff marked down or didn't have signs about what their mark down was. This is a consignment store, so I get why some things weren't marked down yet. What I don't get was the table full of Christmas stuff that had a red line through the prices. There were no signs anywhere saying if items were marked down, or how much. I didn't feel like taking things downstairs to the desk to ask, especially since all I got was a 'Hello' when I entered the store, no 'Can I help you' or 'Are you looking for anything?' So, I didn't buy anything.
The next store, all their Christmas merchandise was marked down 50%, and while I get that you're an independent store and and need to have higher prices to survive, I didn't feel like paying even the half the price for the items I wanted.
I found this rather cute owl:
He was probably 2 feet high or so, and he bobbled on his feet. Very cute, but full price was almost $40, and I didn't want to pay even $20 for half price. I certainly don't need another one, and as I'm sitting here, I'm not sure there's even room for him in my apartment. So, after careful consideration, I put the three items I had picked up, back and went along my way.
The last store, their stuff was 75% off, that's more my liking. These three ornaments were $5.98, $6.59 and $5.98 full price:
I ended up paying less that $5 for them altogether. That's my price.
When I got home, I found a secret Santa gift from one of my Facebook groups in the mailbox.
Some shaped paper clips:
Which I don't remember asking for, but there it was on the post. I'm not sure why I asked for them, I have a ton of paper clips I don't use already.
I watched movies and YouTube for the rest of the night. I wasn't quite ready to go back to normal life yet, figured I'd do that today.
One of my swaps I got a few weeks ago was to send your partner $10 worth of new Christmas crafting stuff. Here's what my partner sent me:

And the front:
So, she sent me a used set of stamps. I contacted the admins of the group, and they said she said it was new, so now it's her word against mine. So, I asked, what about the fact that it's not Christmas? Apparently it's now between her and me, because she sent me something. Which I feel is bullshit. She didn't follow the rules of the swap, and sent me crap. I'm not going to speculate on her side, but I told the admins, I would finish my two swaps in the group, and then I would leave, because that's not fair.
I think she should at least send me something Christmasy, because that's what the swap called for, but I guess as long as you send something, it's OK.
This is the second time I'm leaving a group, because the admins took the other person's side. Another group I was in, I left because a known flaker joined the group. I told the admins she had flaked on me and was told they'd gotten this response from a few other people in the group, but they were going to give her another chance. Then she should still be sending out those swaps for people she owes them to. I'm not staying in a group where you have a person that flakes on people.
And it's sad, that the people who are following the rules are the ones that have to leave. I'm a member of quite a few groups, 4 or 5, on facebook, and I guess the world is just telling me to stay with the few I'm already in.
So, there was that today. And then my parents gave me some money to move into my savings account and we're sitting in the car talking about it, and they've already told me all this stuff, and I feel like they're treating me like I'm 5. Like I don't understand things.
I got home about 10:45, and I want to drink some alcohol that's in my fridge because I'm so annoyed at the world, but I can't because I work tonight.
I'm so annoyed at how people are, I just don't know how to get past it. Maybe reading a book about having more happiness in your life will help.
I've also noticed, it's taken me twice as long to write this because apparently when i'm pissed I screw up more when I type.

Is it the weekend yet?

OK, this is a warning, I'm venting in this post. But, if you don't want to read about me venting, you can look at the pictures of this squirrel I took when I was in Okoboji.
So, today has sucked so far. My boyfriend calls me this morning and proceeds to complain about his job, which I didn't mind, we all need to complain once in awhile. What I minded was, I haven't seen him in almost 2 weeks. He says he's been working more and has close to no time to do anything (what else is new), except I saw him the other day (of course the day I had other plans). And of course he calls me after he's home, so he won't be stopping by, but doesn't everyone have to eat breakfast, what's so hard about picking me up to go to breakfast after he gets off in the morning?
On August 26th (1 month ago, almost) I signed up to be part of the ISU alumni association, they sent me an email saying they'd send me a welcome packet and it would be here in 3-4 weeks. It's been 4 weeks, so I called them today, and they said, they do membership cards on Mondays, that next Monday was Labor Day, so they did it on Tuesday and they're waiting to get it back from where ever it goes. What's so hard about sending an email to tell me that? Is it that hard, apparently so, because I never received the other email telling my ID # to access stuff online, that's part of the communications dept, which is not who I was talking to on the phone.
And there's road construction pretty much everywhere right now, most of our major roads are somewhat blocked off and it's hell to get around.
Also, this weekend I have planned. Tomorrow, me and mom are going to an antique sale, and I hope I can convince her to go to another one, only it's supposed to rain tomorrow. Both sales are indoors, but you know some people don't like to go out in the rain. Sunday, my mom, aunt and I are supposed to go to a art show, hopefully that will work out fine as well. Also, I should have some great purchases to show you all.
Am I the only one who hates when people don't have an email to respond to when they post comments? Now, I love comments, don't get me wrong, but if you're going to ask a question in your comment, I should be able to just hit reply and type a response. Seems like all the comments with questions are no-replies. It's kinda annoying, especially since my computer hates blogger, so when I go to my blog to respond, it disconnects from the internet, then I have to wait for it to reconnect.
I think that's the end of my ranting, I'll let you know later.

Venting

One thing I liked about working at the art store, people knew what was in it before they came in. If they weren't looking for art supplies, they had no need to come in, and most likely didn't.
I just had some people that stayed in here for 50 minutes, looking at stuff, killing time essentially and DIDN'T BUY A DAMN THING!!!! They most likely came in for the same reasons as most people do nowadays because of the big sign in the window that says storewide sale 25% off, which means the whole store, to see if they could find something cheap, or they were just killing time until something happened.
I know most stores get people that are killing time, but I know we get it a lot more than other stores, they're either waiting for their pizza (Pizza Hut is right next door and it's carry-out or delivery only), waiting for someone to get their haircut or waiting for their haircut time (Great Clips is 2 doors down), or waiting for their wife/girlfriend, etc to finish shopping in Jo Ann Fabrics (which is 5 doors down) or Hobby Lobby (which is 5 doors the other way). And I get so many people now that when I say the store is closing reply, oh that's too bad I always love coming in here and LOOKING. I always want to retort back and ask them how often they ever buy anything!!!
I had 6 people in here at once tonight (that's pretty huge) and not a single one of them bought anything.

Mostly I'm annoyed with the ones that spent the 50 minutes in here just slacking off and didn't buy anything. They are the biggest reason we are going out of business.

And then, one of them asks me if we can call the owner to ask them a question about a display game. I give them the number of the store and told them they'd have to call in the morning when the owner was here. They calls the number, and guess what I picked up, and they say I gave them the wrong number and can we call the owner right now. OK, if the owner's not here, it means they're off somewhere else most likely doing something personal, I'm not going to give out their personal number.

Can't you tell I'm a little annoyed??? Sorry, had to rant.

Trivia Question

Just because I've had enough people ask me, What does "storewide" mean to you?

OK, this may be only me, but when I see little girls with purses, it totally makes me think they're growing up too fast, especially when they aren't purses with Disney characters on them. To me, when you're a little girl (that meaning up to at least 12), you shouldn't have to worry about spending money, or all the other stuff we shove in our purses. Granted they may not have anything close to what most ladies actually have in their purses, I always think they have at least money in there. Especially when I sell something to one of them, and they take out the money and put it back. I know it's good to be learning about money and stuff like that, but it still says "I'm growing up right in front of you"

Venting

I hate it when people think they are better than everyone else, or feel like they should get out of something because they did something in the community.
It happends on Cops all the time, when they start the "Do you know who I am", and then they get upset when the cop doesn't care, or says you need to be quiet while I do my job. I am a fan of just deserts, you do something wrong, you should totally get punished for it. You leave things out for people to steal, they should get stolen. You do a crime, you get punished for it. You get in the way of an officer doing their job, you should get arrested for getting in the way (I know there's a more official way of saying this, but I can't remember). I know quite a few cops in this city, but I would never play the I know so and so card to get out of something, if I screw up I totally hope any cop I know would punish me for it.
I hate how people always say how they pay taxes so they pay the cop's salary, or shouldn't money be spent in a different way than punishing the hard working people of this town.

By the way, I'm not just bias to other people, my mom likes to pull the "Do you know who I am card", of course, she no longer is on the city council, but I wouldn't be surprised if she pulled the "I know the mayor card". Nobody should get out of their punishment if they screwed up.

Need some advice

So, today I went to get my eyes checked (has been almost 4 years), and I was chatting with the optician about how my current medical insurance didn't cover eyes, so that's why I hadn't gotten it done. To which he talked about eyes being the most important and how money shouldn't matter, etc, etc, etc. Which I get, eyes are very important, but when you don't have a lot of money, the things that cost the most, don't get done.
Anyways, I was checking out new frames because my prescription changed (I asked my mother to come along for another opinion), and we didn't have any, because I have a tiny head (I usually end up with kids glasses). Afterward, I was going to schedule a dialation (where they put drops in your eyes, and the pupils get bigger, so they can see parts of the eyes, they explain it, but I never really understand.), anyways my mother said I should wait and see about costs at the Wolfe Eye Clinic (the place I used to go) because they have my family history and other things. To me it sounded like she just didn't want me to go to this cheaper place. She is against change (which is where I get it from), but she also said it was an optician and this place and an optometrist at Wolfe. I'm not entirely sure what the difference is between them. But I was also saying that the Wolfe place is in the middle of nowhere, and she said how location shouldn't have any impact on where I went. Pretty much meaning, she would drive me out there. Only thing is, I know she will complain the whole way out there and back about having to drive me and other stuff.
I'm trying to figure out how much of her argument is against change, and how much is what I should actually listen to.
One of the funny things is, if I lived anywhere else, anywhere I went wouldn't have all my family history either, so I think part of that argument doesn't work.
I honestly am not sure what to do. I know I will have to call Wolfe and see what their prices are, and figure it out from there. But I really don't know what to do, any suggestions?

I've been very disappointed with some things lately.
One, I don't think I'm buying Levi's jeans again. It used to be I could wear a pair of jeans practically every day and they would last a year or so. In January, I needed some new jeans to wear to one of my jobs, so I bought a pair, there are parts that are already wearing through. That's not acceptable, especially considering I paid about $25-$30 for them.
Another, I bought some bagels at my grocery store last Saturday, I had eaten 2 of them, today I went to eat another, they were moldy. They weren't very expensive, but I would think they should last more than 5 days. They were bakery items instead of trucked in, but still. I had 4 I had to throw away today, it was very disappointing.

What are people thinking?

For one of my jobs, I work at at toy store in a strip mall, and right next to the toy store is a Pizza Hut where you can only pick-up your pizza or have it delivered.

Tonight it's raining, and sometimes pouring. I have seen 2 people pull up and park (in the fire lane), leave their kids in their car, leave the car running and go in to get their pizza. This is the perfect crime of opportunity for a person. It makes me wonder if the parent/adult would think it was worth it to stay out of the rain, if their car happened to be stolen. Now both times these people left their car, yes they could see the car, but they were also away from the car for at least 5 minutes, and if the person was walking toward the car, and then walked in front and got into the driver's door, I highly doubt the adult would notice, I'm pretty sure you could do it fast enough if you wanted to.

Unfortunately, I know this doesn't just happen here. I've seen people do it down town as well and pretty much anywhere in town. Now, I know we don't have a ton of crime in our city (most likely more than people think), but we have had armed robberies at gas stations, one just a block away.

Not that I'm wishing something would happen to anyone, but I really wish there was some way we could get people to realize that cons will not outweigh the pros in these situations.

A few weeks ago, when I was working at the library, one of our full-time staff comes inside the library with a kid screaming his head off. We found the mother, but she didn't seem in the least bit concerned.

I got my degree in criminal justice and I have read about what people will do just because there's an opportunity. I don't think in any way there's an excuse for them doing these crimes, but I do think the victim is partly to blame in these situations.

They claim I was a nasty person

I love it how my parents don't think anything I do in my life is important.
Mom has been trying to clean out my stuff of my old bedroom (so she can put more stuff she never uses into it), and we're kinda planning a garage sale for next weekend. Today, my dad calls and says we need to make a plan for when we can work on getting stuff out. Really? Why do I need to help you get stuff out of your house? No one helped me when I was sorting out stuff. Then, he gets all upset, because I'm busy taking care of stuff I need to do before I go help out at the library this afternoon and asks what I'm doing. Like it's any of his business.
And I really don't think it takes much to organize a garage sale, put an ad up on craigslist and the free paper people get in the mail on Weds, move your car out of the garage, move a couple other things out that aren't going to be for sale, put up some table, put up some signs saying this stuff is X amt of dollars, put some price tags on bigger things and there you go.
Why do my parents insist on making things so much harder than they are?
And why does all the things I do in my life not important. Like last week when mom asked me to get part of the foundation painted before they got back from their trip on Weds, did she ask me if I had stuff to do? No, because I guess since I don't have a full time job, all I do is sit in my apartment and do nothing all day.

Your breath is still on my lips

My mom is cleaning all my stuff out of my old room and wants me to put it up here in my apartment, because I clearly have all this room. We're looking at a box of dolls which I decided I didn't need anymore, she informs me that I should keep them even if I think I don't need them anymore. Guess I should go rent a storage space for all the shit you think I should keep that I'm never going to use again. Maybe she's hoping I'll use it for my kids someday, I don't really plan on having kids. Yeah, I had that moment a few months ago when I wanted one, but now that Kevin's brother has one, he doesn't see the need to have any. He had told me once in the beginning of our relationship, that he wanted kids because he didn't think his brother could have any. Now that his brother has a kid, he told me, he figures that if we're meant to have kids somehow it'll happen, even though I'm on birth control. And, even if I ever have kids, I sure don't want to push dolls on my daughter (if I have one), I want my kids to decide what they want, but I sure don't plan on doing anything totally girly or boyish when they're young. Why not, give my old toys/dolls/etc to Goodwill where some other kid can have some enjoyment out of them? Cause you sure don't want to keep them in your house, but yet you think I should keep them when I don't want to.

She had to come up and measure one of my closets to find out if some totes she bought to put my stuff in them would fit. As she's leaving she says I need to devote 2 hrs every day to cleaning/sorting/rearranging. She didn't say it in so many words but it's because she doesn't like the way my apartment looks. Sure, it's messy, but I can find everything I want, I don't have problems with it, what business is it of yours? She's starting to treat me as if I'm a little child again. I have a responsiblity to mow the lawn in the summer (shovel the sidewalks/driveway in the winter), the other day she called me and told me I needed to get my chores done. Chores? Really, is that what you think of them. I'd love for Kevin to hurry up and buy a house, so I can move in with him, sort through all my crap and get rid of what I don't need (without my mom knowing, cause she'll think I need to keep some of it) and get away from her. Just cause I live in your apartment doesn't mean you get to say how it looks. I don't have bugs, I don't have rotting food, the only thing you can't handle is that it's messy. I have no doubt that when I do get my own place, when she comes over, she'll still complain about the way I live.

Raise the bar high

I don't know what the point of making plans is if someone's not going to care enough to show up. Tonight, I'm making dinner for Kevin and me (which is huge, cause I don't cook). I threw the ingredients from a Banquet crockpot dinner in the crockpot, and went off to work, called Kevin when I got off work and told him he had 25 minutes to get over here (he knew I was making dinner to be ready to eat around 6). He tells me, he’s working on his (and his roommate’s deck), and of course I called him about 6:35 when the food was done, and what was he doing? STILL WORKING ON THE DAMN DECK!!!!! He had all day to do stuff, and he happens to be working on the deck as the last thing. What’s the point?
I’m rather annoyed with him this week. Tuesday, he says he’ll take me to dinner, we end up with his roommate at a local Chinese place (I don’t mind going out with his roommate), and then we go to Lowe’s afterward. I don’t like wandering through Lowe’s for my night. I told him later, I would have been less crabby not seeing him, than going to Lowe’s to look at boards for his deck.
Wednesday, he has to work til 10, and then work the next day at 9AM, so I tell him to go home after he gets off work.
Thursday, he goes out to eat with his roommate again, and calls me asking if I wanna be picked up (as we’re going to Walmart later). After going back to his place, and leaving in his truck we go to Walmart.
Now, I get that they have to finish this deck project because his roommate’s dad started it and didn’t finish it, but when I make plans you’d think he could be respectful and show up.
Am I being selfish?

Wherefore many men have gone

Recently, someone told me that most Marines are idiots, that "They are called Jarheads for a reason". I was pissed. Course I was already in a bad day and kept my mouth shut instead of spouting off. But I wished I knew a Marine I could call up and have them come over and educate this person.
I'm reading my Marine newsletter from 2 weeks ago, and that quote was just ringing in my head.
Ever notice how it's the uneducated (about that subject) who feel the need to speak bullshit/crap on a subject they know nothing about?

I am no superman

So, my day's starting off nicely, OK not quite.
I get to read about my brother being inconvenienced with riding the bus in Chicago, he complains about how he has to stand up and that the bus stops at every stop. Of course he's used to being King of the World, god forbid he drag his ass down to mix with the commoners. I'm not going to link to him, because I know he has stats, and I'm paranoid of my family finding my blog because of me (I complain about them too much, and I know my brother will inform my parents as his "way" of looking out for me)
And then I get to read about someone looking for a car for a relative, and how they're settling on some sports car and complaining about how they have to wait if they custom design it. Oh, how nice it must be to have that much money to spend on other people. I don't even have $1000 in the bank, it's annoying to read about other people having money. Also no link, you'll get over it.
And I woke up with my ear messed up, kinda felt like I went swimming and the water dried in my ear. Add that to the fact my nose is running and my eyes are watering for no apparent reason, yes the day is starting off great.
I know I'm going to hear more from people about how inconvenienced they are, it's a fact of life. Maybe I'll move down South, after reading about how great it is, I'm inclined to think about it. No, there's no sarcasm (you never can tell these days), it sounds like how life should be. Common sense rules, how many places can you go for that?

I can feel that muddy water

How upsetting is this?

Dear Jane Subscriber:
With regret, we have decided that we will no longer be publishing Jane.
In its place, we will be sending you Glamour for the duration of your remaining Jane subscription term.
We think you’ll love Glamour. Like Jane, it’s packed with everything smart, sexy women want to know – about your body, your beauty, your relationships…and more!
If for any reason you choose not to receive Glamour, please contact us at (800) 219-5924 for a full refund of the remaining issues still due on your subscription. If you are already a Glamour subscriber, the copies due will be added to your current subscription.
Sincerely,
Charles Simpson for Jane

I received it in my snail mail box yesterday, and I'm a bit annoyed, especially since you’d think one would get a letter/postcard from the editor of Jane rather than some random person. In Jane they like to pretend we’re all family (readers and the writers), so it’s kinda annoying. And what about all the people that buy it off the newsstand, are they just ignored. They’ll be going out to get their monthly Jane and it won’t be there and all the sellers can tell them is that it no longer exists. I haven’t quite decided if I’m gonna go with the subscription to Glamour or not, I figure I’ll try it out, but if I wanted a subscription to Glamour, you’d think I’d already have one. I wouldn’t mind a full refund for the Jane subscription, especially since mine doesn’t end until November of 2009.

So, I was listening to NPR the other day (National Public Radio), and they had their daily news show, All Things Considered, on. They were talking about how the relatives of the people tramatized by the Virginia Tech shootings were receiving payments for being traumatized. How wrong is that? Common sense tells you, if you’re suing sue the relatives of the guy that did it, of course they didn’t know he was going to do it, and they’re already dealing with enough grief on their part. It’s just so wrong, it makes me think people might hope for another shooting, just so they could go and get paid because their family member died, was injured, or even was in the vicinity of the shooting. YEAH, they didn’t even have to be injured by the shooter to get paid. It’s beyond wrong. Course things seem to be going to hell ever since that bitch sued McDonald’s because she was so stupid she spilled her hot coffee on herself. Of course, you also have to be wondering where we’re getting the judges that are awarding these claims to people. There need to be judges with common sense in the courts. Hell all judges should have common sense before becoming a judge.

I just needed to vent for the day.

Mile marker 203

Last week or so it rained very hard here. My neighbors have a little Pomeranian (sp?) and they recently cut its hair so it looks like a big Chiuahua (sp?). Anyways, the other day when it rained, it was outside in the pouring rain barking its head off, so I went over and rescued it, sticking it on our back porch and drying it off. We called the neighbors and left a message on their machine. I sat with Chewy (the dog) for 2 hours and then the rain let up and I had other things to do (and didn't want to smell like wet dog for the rest of the night), so I stuck it back outside. We haven't heard a thank you back from these people.
I saw Chewy out today after I finished the lawn and wandered over to say hi. He's such a cute nice little dog. Anyways I was thinking, the poor guy sits outside the whole time our neighbors are at work. He's a little yippy dog, you can't just stick it outside with nothing to do and expect it's going to be ok for hours at a time. You have to either get 2 dogs, or play with it.
Some people really need to research their pets before getting them.

Sorry, just had to rant.

Let's give them something to talk about

So, I'm pissed at ABC, or the local channel 5 (ABC here), or maybe just the person that thought to do the story.
The line to draw your attenion: A (some city) teenager facing cancer head on. What I wanna know, is why did you pick this person? How is she better than my best friend who had brain cancer, who had a surgery in early January last year, had to shave her head when she went through radiation, technically died one day in April, lost memory of a weekend in April, can't hear out of her left ear, and has problems that people don't need to know about that read this blog. How is this girl better than her? Why is her story the one you broadcast to the people who watch your station for the news?

I just needed to vent.

Waiting at a stop light yesterday

What is it? Fuck of W week? I found out this week I was used (not recently, but it still hurts) and other people just kinda stopped caring. I had one (this one I probably shouldn't put too much faith into) drop me off their friends list on myspace, and someone decided to drop 2 of my blogs off their link list. If I didn't have something to look presentable at tomorrow, I'd be hitting the shit out of my wall, I started a little, but then realized my hands can't be all bruised up tomorrow.
Maybe I expect too much of people.
I'm already upset with not having a job, my parents threatening to raise my rent, and shit in general. Thank you so much for making me more upset people.
At least my part-time job gives me happiness, since I can't depend on anyone else lately.

stupid snow

I'm complaining today, so deal with it or fuck off.
So, we got maybe 4inches of snow yesterday, and I have to shovel today. My parents are making me do the whole damn property. Nicely, we live on a corner, so I have 2 public sidewalks, all our sidewalks, and the newly paved driveway. I was just out there for 45 min, and i have a tiny path on the sidewalks, and the end of the driveway done. I'm beyond sore, plus that cut in my hand doesn't make it any easier. I came in for a break because it felt like I was gonna pass out, and you can't sit outside, cause you freeze. I'm so pissed at my parents, god forbid they help out.
I understand that mom won't cause she's having a tube shoved down her throat for dr's to look at her lungs, but what's dad's reason? That he shoveled the inch on Sat, yeah sure. Even if I shoveled Sat, I'd still be shoveling today.
Unfortunately, I'm so tired, I can't use my anger as a force to shovel the snow. Anyone wanna come help?

saw the eagle fly through a clear blue sky

So, I was watching one of those Most Shocking Videos shows on Spike TV today (thankfully it wasn't narrated by whats-his-face, it sounded more like the guy from Unsolved Mysteries). Anyway, I was curious why they had to show the video six damn times. Like we didn't see it the first or second time, and think of how many more videos they could put on the thing if they didn't show it six times.
I was also thinking as I was watching a cop chase, it was shot from a helicopter and when the ass finally bailed out of his car, there were no cop cars around him, but he still drove like an ass. It reminded me of a post I read over on Jason's blog about how cities are trying to cut back on wrecks created by crooks by telling the cops they can't chase the crooks anymore. Just cause the cops terminate the chase, doesn't mean the ass is gonna stop driving like a maniac. And, if they know that the cops aren't gonna chase them, it's probably likely that they will be more apt to run. Sorry, had to rant.
