I just want to use your love tonight

You really can't explain some things to some people. I had a lady in the store tonight, and I said how it would be a good night because a local radio station was playing 80's Friday Night. And she gave me the weirdest look. I tried explaining it to her, but knew it was no use.
I grew up with music. If I have a bad day, I have certain songs to listen to. When Karli went through her cancer, I had certain songs that would console me if I was bummed. If I really want to listen something that always sounds good, I listen to Bruce Springsteen, he can brighten any day. I think my favorite of his is Untitled or Stolen Car or Brothers Under the Bridge. There's so many that are soo good. Some songs just fit any mood. But, some people just don't get that. Every time I hear Time of Your Life by Green Day, I think of my high school senior picnic. Run by George Strait immediately makes me think of 9/11. I'm brought back to my childhood by Don't Stop Believin' by Journey or Right Now by Van Halen or Welcome to the Jungle by Guns N Roses. Welcome to Jungle also reminds me of when they came here for their concert and I didn't go home until 2:45 in the morning.
I've kinda run into that with Kevin, he never understands why I'm always listening to music. He listens to it, to have a background noise, but rarely does he say anything about a certain song.

What songs remind you of events in your life or soothe you?

The way you make me feel.

UGH! I'm so bad at keeping this regularly updated, and for that I apologize.
In the meantime, I have been dealing with an ear infection that finally cleared up yesterday. I never had ear infections as a kid, so I really hated dealing with this. There was a basketball game that I was working, and I guess I had the radio up really loud (on the case of being partially deaf in one ear), and one of the officers made a comment about it. Thankfully, it finally cleared yesterday and I can hear again.
It's been pretty nice out lately, Sun and Mon we got into the 70's and this week promises to be all in the 50s. I'm pretty happy about that, though I'm having a hard time getting my butt in gear to get out of the house and go on my walks. Sunday, I walked down to Target and back (I mapped it online afterward and found I walked about 3 miles), I spent way too much money on Hotwheels cars. Why do they have to have all those cool '60s models out? So, yesterday I told myself I was going to go on my 4 mile walk, left at 4:30, so if it took me 2 hrs I'd be back before 7. That didn't quite work out as planned. For some reason my left ankle started hurting and made me cut the walk short. I haven't mapped it out yet, so I don't know how much I walked. I'm also finding it annoying to have to go without music.
My Mp3 player's battery will not last over 30 minutes lately. It's pretty annoying, and seeing as it's an internal battery, I'd have to buy a whole new replacement and send it in to be replaced. I feel kinda annoyed since it's only a little over 2 years old (I got it for my graduation from college in Dec of 2006) and I know it cost my brother a pretty penny.
I do have a little portable radio, but the antenna must suck, cause I seem to walk 2 feet and can't get the same station in.
I have found out that walking to and from work every night I do walk a mile. That's nice to know, but seeing as how I've plumped up lately, I need to do a little more and actually work out.
In other news, after getting my new toy, Kevin and I went back to his parents home and then went shooting where I shot up this guy. Kevin says it was from 20 yards away. I'm not sure if that's really good, considering I have a scope on my rifle, but I'm pretty happy about it.
Sorry, about the quality of this picture, I did something to my camera and now it won't zoom as close as it did before. I'll have to ask Ross to look at it next time he's in town. Anyways, if you can see, I hit the van 4 times. Once through the top, next to the circle window, once close to the front windows, once at the back wheels there, and once that you can't really see, but I kinda nicked it at the bottom of the undercarriage.
In this picture: you can (hopefully) see I hit the whole packaging 6 times. The 4 on the van, and then once on top of the van, and once through the cardboard picture near the front of the van.
I was remarking how much fun I was having shooting things that day. It was Kevin, his brother, his dad and me. We had his brother's plywood target stand, with my van, another hotwheels car, some paper targets, shotgun shells sitting on top of it, pop bottles on the ground, shotgun shells on the ground, and some wood sticking out of the ground. We spent about 3 hours (maybe?) shooting. I was having so much fun. Plus, Kevin says the rounds for my .22 are pretty cheap. I really can't wait to go shooting again. Kevin and I are considering buying a membership at Ike's here in town. He's got a fun little arsenal to play with, and I am loving my rifle.
Also, I did find some new boots, I went to Kmart, Walmart, Target, JCPenney's, Younkers, Journeys, Hot Topic, Payless, Thiesen's, everywhere that sold boots are our mall, all the places downtown (there's a couple), a few places in Cedar Rapids (Famous Footwear, Macy's I think, Sears), some places in Des Moines (DSW, Scheels, G&L Clothing, Sportsman's Warehouse {OK, that's in Ankeny}, Dillards), I even went to Zappos.com and didn't find what I was looking for, and finally found a couple pairs at the Payless in Des Moines, at a pretty fair price, I bought 2 pairs, so if one wears out, I still have another one. They're working out pretty well.
I'm surprised at the lack of hiking boots/nice looking boots people had. I've made the conclusion women aren't supposed to hike at all. I found minimal pairs of hiking boots at best, and the ones I found were just that, hiking boots. That's what I loved about my Harley boots, they looked nice so you could wear them to work (I have) and then go hiking at the Ledges after work in them. It's kinda annoying to have to switch shoes to do things, but I guess I'll have to in the future.
That's my news, I'll try to do better at updating, but I can't promise anything.

How annoying is this? I listen to a radio station that usually has 80's Friday Nights, from 7:00pm until Midnight. I look forward to Friday night all week for these. Now, I find out, they changed it so it only goes until 10:00PM. Now, they have some talk program about what's going on in "stars" lives. Like that's any better than relaxing to great music destressing from the week. As if I give a damn about movie stars lives.

Is that so strange?

Found out tonight (technically last night), that my dad GAVE AWAY the LP of Bruce Springsteen's Born In The U.S.A. Needless to say I was/am a bit perturbed.

I want a ticket to anywhere

Fast Car by Tracy Chapman

You got a fast car
I want a ticket to anywhere
Maybe we make a deal
Maybe together we can get somewhere

Anyplace is better
Starting from zero got nothing to lose
Maybe we'll make something
But me myself I got nothing to prove

You got a fast car
And I got a plan to get us out of here
I been working at the convenience store
Managed to save just a little bit of money
We won't have to drive too far
Just 'cross the border and into the city
You and I can both get jobs
And finally see what it means to be living

You see my old man's got a problem
He live with the bottle that's the way it is
He says his body's too old for working
I say his body's too young to look like his
My mama went off and left him
She wanted more from life than he could give
I said somebody's got to take care of him
So I quit school and that's what I did

You got a fast car
But is it fast enough so we can fly away
We gotta make a decision
We leave tonight or live and die this way

I remember we were driving driving in your car
The speed so fast I felt like I was drunk
City lights lay out before us
And your arm felt nice wrapped 'round my shoulder
And I had a feeling that I belonged
And I had a feeling I could be someone, be someone, be someone

You got a fast car
And we go cruising to entertain ourselves
You still ain't got a job
And I work in a market as a checkout girl
I know things will get better
You'll find work and I'll get promoted
We'll move out of the shelter
Buy a big house and live in the suburbs

I remember we were driving driving in your car
The speed so fast I felt like I was drunk
City lights lay out before us
And your arm felt nice wrapped 'round my shoulder
And I had a feeling that I belonged
And I had a feeling I could be someone, be someone, be someone

You got a fast car
And I got a job that pays all our bills
You stay out drinking late at the bar
See more of your friends than you do of your kids
I'd always hoped for better
Thought maybe together you and me would find it
I got no plans
I ain't going nowhere
So take your fast car and keep on driving

I remember we were driving driving in your car
The speed so fast I felt like I was drunk
City lights lay out before us
And your arm felt nice wrapped 'round my shoulder
And I had a feeling that I belonged
And I had a feeling I could be someone, be someone, be someone

You got a fast car
But is it fast enough so you can fly away
You gotta make a decision
You leave tonight or live and die this way

Ever feel like that? Wish I had a fast car to take me away.

This is your hometown.

Kevin and I were in Walmart the other day and I was debating whether to buy a CD or not, I asked him and he said I didn't really need THAT CD. That CD, which I did end up buying, is Bruce Springsteen's Greatest Hits. I grew up listening to the record of Born In The USA, I can tell what song is on side two of the record (No Surrender). I borrowed my Dad's boxed set of Bruce's and copied the whole thing onto my computer and Mp3 player. I find it quite funny how Kevin doesn't quite get the whole thing of how much I love The Boss. Wonder if that kinda makes me older than him. My dad raised my brother and I on Bruce Springsteen, Elton John and Billy Joel, I even remember listening to Old Time Rock N Roll by Bob Seger numerous times.

Make sweet love to you.

Ah, the fun of a winter in Iowa. Spent 45 minutes after work yesterday scraping ice, ironically my arms aren't that sore. Spose I'll find out how sore they are this weekend when I get the joy of doing it again.
So, I went to see Trans-Siberian Orchestra last night with my parents, Kevin, uncle and cousin on my dad's side. It wasn't too bad, if I was ever to go again, I'd like tickets in the first level of seats. We were on the floor and they had a very wild light show, very bright. I had my eyes closed for 80% of the concert and I could still see the light show fine. They also had these flame things that shot flames into the air, and they had some behind us, that was a little warm. The first half of the concert they performed their "Christmas Eve and Other Stories" CD, and the second half they did their renditions of favorites, like "Rollin' on the River" and Beethoven's 10th. It was pretty good, I just didn't see the real need to see them in concert. Oh, and if I had epilepsy, I would be dead.

This is what it costs to keep us free

UGH! What is wrong with the people of this country? Is it so hard to take an hour out of your day to honor the people who gave you a privilege to have this day off from work? Is it so hard to stop what your doing to watch a parade honoring them? To walk down to the cemetery and listen to a program honoring them? I don't give a damn if you agree with the war or not, that's not what today is about. These people died so you could have the choice of honoring them or not. Is it so hard to listen to the list of people in the armed forces that died in the last year? To listen to speeches honoring the dead? To listen to Taps played to honor the dead? And why the hell can't you turn your cell phones off for 30 minutes? Is anything that important that you need to talk on them during this time.
My parents and I went to the cemetery after the parade (which was pathetic, by the way, is it so hard to donate your time to walk in a parade honoring the people that gave you your freedoms?), and my parents decided they had to go home before the program was over. What's so important they couldn't wait for 20 minutes you ask? I don't know, when I got home after the program, they were sitting on the front porch enjoying the weather.
The people in this country are so full of themselves that they don't realize what happened in the past to give them to opportunity to do what they want on this day, to give them a day off from work. It's fucking wrong.

Arlington by Trace Adkins

I never thought that this is where I'd settle down,
I thought I'd die an old man back in my hometown,
They gave me this plot of land, me and some other men, for a job well done,
There's a big white house sits on a hill just up the road,
The man inside he cried the day they brought me home,
They folded up a flag and told my mom and dad, we're proud of your son

And I'm proud to be on this peaceful piece of property,
I'm on sacred ground and I'm in the best of company,
I'm thankful for those thankful for things I've done,
I can rest in peace, I'm one of the chosen ones,
I made it to Arlington

I remember daddy brought me here when I was eight,
We searched all day to find out where my granddad lay,
And when we finally found that cross,
He said, "Son this is what it cost to keep us free"
Now here I am, a thousand stones away from him,
He reconized me on the first day I came in,
And it gave me a chill when he clicked his heels, and saluted me.

And I'm proud to be on this peaceful piece of property,
I'm on sacred ground and I'm in the best of company,
I'm thankful for those thankful for things I've done,
I can rest in peace, I'm one of the chosen ones,
I made it to Arlington

And everytime I hear twenty-one guns,
I know they brought another hero home to us

We're thankful for those thankful for the things we've done,
We can rest in peace, 'cause we are the chosen ones,
We made it to Arlington, yea dust to dust, don't cry for us,
We made it to Arlington

Because I can't say it any better, go here.

Come on down

So, the Academy of Country Music Awards are on tonight. And of course I'm watching it. Y'all get to enjoy my commentary of it.
I was disagreeing with Goddess (in my mind) the other day about Reba getting a boob job, but shit you can sure tell it tonight. She's wearing a nice V-neck dress, and she kept turning so everyone could get a nice side view of her larger chest. It wasn't like spilling her boobs out for the world to see, but you could definately tell they were larger.
And then Tracy Lawrence and some news anchor came out to present song of the year (I think?) and apparently the country music folk haven't learned from Kenny Rogers that plastic surgery is BAD. He looked about as bad as Kenny, there's no way he aged that way naturally. Y'all should take after Johnny Cash, sure he didn't look great when he got older, but you could tell it was him and natural, he didn't look like he had to smile all the damn time.
George Strait won with Give it away, and I swear he's shrinking, he's an easy 6 foot (or he was), you used to be able to stick him next to Alan Jackson and they were about the same height. Of course, he also seemed kinda disoriented.
And it's nice to see that Miranda Lambert is all grown-up and wears short dresses, with deep cut necks.
Album of the year was Some Hearts by Carrie Underwood. I was thinking Hillbilly Deluxe by Brooks N Dunn should have won.
Little Big Town finally received the award for New Vocal Duo/Group of the Year
I like the duet of Reba and Kelly Clarkson singing Because of You, it sounded great.
And once again, Brooks N Dunn won Top Vocal Duo. No big surprise there, it so needs to be renamed the Brooks N Dunn award on both awards shows (this and Country Music Association).
Entertainer of the Year is Kenny Chesney, another not so big surprise.

Every song another scene

I gotta stop working concerts where shit happens that scares me. This is the second time this has happened. The last concert being the GnR concert in Dec.
Well, tonight was Dierks Bentley, and everything was mellow, no problems, until the end, that is. Anyway, there was a group of muscled cowboys, that were out on the walkway. We had 2 officers on tonight (the college ones, that don't have guns, but otherwise have all the powers of other cops). I saw them run outside, and then they were throwing a guy up against the door, had him down on the ground and in cuffs. They bring the guy inside and he's apologizing profusely, and they're talking to him. Then the rest of the cowboys start coming in, that's when I got scared. Personally, I can handle my own, but there were about 10 guys all nicely built, I would have been trampled. We notified the officers, one of them takes the guy in cuffs to the side, the other is trying to talk to the cowboys, one of our environmental service guys comes by (he's pretty big) and the other long door person was also trying to separate them. I decided to keep the onlookers away, two reasons, I knew if anything happened, I'd be knocked out so fast, and we all know people love to butt in and make the situation worse. But I was scared because there was no one else we could call, the only 2 officers on duty were already there, and we didn't really have any big buff guys working tonight.
I believe I'm good now, but I wouldn't mind a comforting hug.

Be forever free to dream

Two songs I really like today:
Before He Cheats by Carrie Underwood
Right now he's probably slow dancing with a bleached-blond tramp,
and she's probably getting frisky.
right now he's probably buying her some fruity little drink
cause she can't shoot whiskey.
right now, he's probably up behind her with a pool-stick,
showing her how to shoot a combo
and he don't know...

I dug my key into the side of his pretty little suped up 4 wheel drive,
carved my name into his leather seats.
I took a louisville slugger to both head lights,
slashed a hole in all 4 tires.
maybe next time he'll think before he cheats.

right now, she's probably up singing some
white-trash version of Shania karoke..
right now, she's probably saying "I'm drunk"
and he's thinking that he's gonna lucky, right now, he's probably dabbing on 3 dollars worth of that bathroom polo.
and he don't know...

I dug my key into the side of his pretty little suped up 4 wheel drive,
carved my name into his leather seat...
I took a louisville slugger to both head lights,
slashed a hole in all 4 tires...
maybe next time he'll think before he cheats.

I might've saved a little trouble for the next girl,
cause the next time that he cheats..
oh you know it won't be on me!
no.. not on me..

I dug my key into the side of his pretty little suped up 4 wheel drive,
carved my name into his leather seat...
I took a louisville slugger to both head lights,
slashed a hole in all 4 tires...
maybe next time he'll think before he cheats.
ohh.. maybe next time he'll think.. before he cheats...

ohh... before he cheats...
ohhhh.

And My Wish by Rascal Flatts
I hope that the days come easy and the moments pass slow,
And each road leads you where you want to go,
And if you're faced with a choice, and you have to choose,
I hope you choose the one that means the most to you.
And if one door opens to another door closed,
I hope you keep on walkin' till you find the window,
If it's cold outside, show the world the warmth of your smile,

But more than anything, more than anything,
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
Your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
And while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish.

I hope you never look back, but ya never forget,
All the ones who love you, in the place you left,
I hope you always forgive, and you never regret,
And you help somebody every chance you get,
Oh, you find God's grace, in every mistake,
And you always give more than you take.

But more than anything, yeah, and more than anything,
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
Your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small,
You never need to carry more than you can hold,
And while you're out there getting where you're getting to,
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too,
Yeah, this, is my wish.

I was listening to Before He Cheats in the car with my mom one day, and she switched the station, and said, "I don't understand why anyone would want to listen to that". Apparently she never had a guy cheat on her. I told her I thought it was a great song. Hell I wish I had the guts to do that if any guy ever cheats on me.
And My Wish, I just love that song, if you've ever heard it (even reading the lyrics) you should be able to tell why.
So, note to myself, next time I get up in the morning, start the day with a can of Vault, not a bottle. (The can's crisper, so somehow tastes better when I'm getting up, please don't ask me to explain it)
Our high today is 5, that would be a +5 above zero. Yay for the heat wave. So, last night I was working the game, and my boss decided that because it was so cold, we weren't ripping tickets and just to count everyone, but everyone still needed a ticket (DUH!). By the end of the night, I was so sick of telling everyone with the blank look (after I told them Thank you, and go ahead) that we weren't tearing tickets. And I was about to strangle the next person, that said Really? or are you sure? Yes, thank you I know my job. We had one guy, come in and a few seconds after going past us, commented, "I didn't even need a ticket" No, you wouldn't have come in without a ticket. I did have an obscene amount of people need to go buy a ticket, or go pick up their tickets, and since it's cold out, we have people escort them over to the ticket office (I was at north, ticket office is at south), so I had to call my supervisor way too many times, because people thought they could just walk by themselves through the building. I wish it would get warm soon, so I can make them go outside again.
So, it was around zero last night, if not under, and I cannot count the number of people that came in without coats. It was just messed up (and of course a great number of them were students, go figure). I had a couple of guys come up the steps together, one in a T-shirt and jeans, the other in a T-shirt and shorts, so I asked if they'd ever heard of a coat and pants, and the guy said, I sold my coat for basketball tickets, and it was worth it. I highly doubt that.
Now, even though it was that cold, we had a pretty good sized crowd, which I thought was messed up, because it was on network television. Why don't people just stay home and watch it in their warm houses? I don't understand.

I broke a thousand hearts

So, I went out to lunch with my friend, T, today. Afterward, we went shopping at Thiesen's (basically a farm supply store), I had heard they had some good Harley boots there, and I want some that I can walk around in as well as ride in. I bought these. They were $90.00 + tax.
These are the ones I already had. I can't walk in them because they have 2 inch heels on them (I'm not one of those people who have mastered walking in heels and not having their feet hurt in 10 min).
I'm very happy with my purchase, only it sucks cause I can't buy anything for me for about 6 months now.

And to get y'all in a warmer mood: Summertime by Kenny Chesney
Summertime is finally here
That old ball park man is back in gear
Out on 49, man I can see the lights
School's out the nights roll in
Man, just like a long lost friend
You ain't seen in a while
You can't help but smile.

And it's two bare feet on the dashboard
Young love in an old Ford
Cheap Shades, a tattoo and a Yoo-Hoo, bottle on the floorboard
Perfect song on the radio
Sing along because it's one we know
It's a smile
It's a kiss
It's a sip of wine
It's summertime
Sweet summertime.

Temperature says '93
Down at the deposit and guarantee
But that swimming hole
It's nice and cold
BikINI bottoms underneath
But the boys heart still skip a beat
When them girls shimmy off
Them old cut-offs

And it's two bare feet on the dashboard
Young love in an old Ford
Cheap Shades, a tattoo and a Yoo-Hoo, bottle on the floorboard
Perfect song on the radio
Sing along because it's one we know
It's a smile
It's a kiss
It's a sip of wine
It's summertime
Sweet summertime.

The more things change
The more they stay the same
Don't matter how old you are
When you know what I'm talking 'bout
Yeah baby, when you got.

Two bare feet on the dashboard
Young love in an old Ford
Cheap Shades, a tattoo and a Yoo-Hoo, bottle rollin on the floorboard
Perfect song on the radio
Sing along because it's one we know
It's a smile
It's a kiss
It's a sip of wine
It's summertime
Sweet summertime....

It's official

It didn't feel really real on graduation day. But today, this is the one piece of mail I received, it feels real now
Fittingly my CD player decided to play "That's Something To Be Proud Of"

Sha la la la

UGH! So I went out with my friends today and we went to the mall (not very exciting but I wanted to get some calendars), I got me a day-by-day Corvette and Mustang calendar, and a monthly OCC wall calendar. I was pissed because I wanted to get the OCC, a wolves, and a fighter jet wall calendar, but the kiosk in the middle of the mall wasn't going to take my gift card for Borders (even though it was the same damn company). So, now I need another wall calendar (to replace my 2 cop wall calendars from last year). Unfortunately I couldn't find a nice one in Borders. I realized how little there is to do here. We ran into a couple friends at the mall, went out to lunch with them and had a nice time. That I wouldn't mind doing again.
I went to visit my friend who runs an eyeglasses shop (to drop off a prescription, so I didn't lose it) and I told him he should get a bunch of his biker buddies and take me on a ride to celebrate my graduation. He said we'd do it some Thurs night when it got warm. Thurs because that's when Porky's and Trophies (two biker bars in DM) have their bike nights. Now, I'm really itching for a ride. Damn.
So now, I'm sitting here listening to some Bruce Springsteen (just need some nice loud music, and I listened to Hicktown and Amarillo Sky incessantly this morning, though I won't be skipping them if they come up in my shuffle). I'm so yearning for a drink and a ride.
And can someone tell me where the last 2 hrs went? I got home about 2 from hanging out with my friends, and now it's 4 I don't get it.

Show me you still care

Don't you love it how certain songs (or albums or artists) bring back memories? So, I'm sitting here at home (cause I lead an unexciting life) listening to some more albums I stuck on my mp3 player. And it tripped over Live at the Wildhorse Saloon by Rebel, which brings back some great memories. Rebel is now Trick Pony (country music, people) who has now broken up. But I remember when my parents and I went to Nashville and saw the group right after they changed their name to Trick Pony at the Wildhorse Saloon. We were there because my dad had a conference in Nashville, so there was a buffet table with food and all on the 3rd floor (I think) of this place, it's a neat place, it's got these fake wooden (?) horses all over it in strange unhorselike (new word) positions. And this band comes on stage, and I remember looking over the railing watching them. So, dad bought their CD before we left. And a couple or so years after that they were at the state fair here for free and we went to see them. I had taken the CD to maybe get it signed, but the crowd was huge, we actually left early cause they were way too loud. There was just too many people in the tent, and I couldn't stand it, and obviously if I thought it was too loud, you can bet my parents and aunt and uncle thought so too. The next year they were at the grandstand after the rodeo, I remember because they made huge headlines with that, no band except maybe one or two had gone from a free stage to the grandstand in one year. I went with a couple of friends.
So, if y'all could see me now, I'm sitting here with this goofy smile on my face and tears in my eyes.

Dancin' down on Sunset Strip

Well that was the most interesting concert I've ever worked. And I'll NEVER buy a ticket to a Guns n Roses concert. So we had about 6000 people in the house for the show. There were 900 general admission tickets sold, those were on the floor, and I'm pretty sure half the people I had try to come into the main entrance were general admission, which meant I got to send them back outside (I'm guessing it was only about 20 degrees outside, if that much) in their skimpy ass clothing, and no coats to another door. I didn't have that much trouble with people coming in at the beginning except for the general admission people, and I got really sick of them asking if I was kidding. The problems started about 10:30, there were 3 or 4 opening acts, including a stripper show (I know I'm not the only one that was apalled about that), and at about that time people were wondering if Axel was coming on stage, and of course they were drunk (Most or all of them had been drinking since they arrived and we opened doors at 7, given that they can buy 2 beers each time you go to the beer stand). So we had quite a few people that were vehemently pissed. I'm thinking between 10:30 and 12:30 (when he finally came on) 1/4 of the people had left. We had quite a few people argue with us, personally I didn't have too many problems, I did have one guy that wouldn't take no for an answer, but then the cops happened to come by, and that took care of it. People are so big and rebellious until the cops show up. We have a policy (I'm pretty sure most centers do) where you can't leave in the middle and come back, and since a ton of people were pissed and tired, they left, and then when they heard he was coming on, a bunch tried to come back in. Course no one got in. We also had quite a few problems with people leaving through our smoking patio (cause we always have a huge turnout of smokers at concerts), and trying to come back in another door, and of course they were sent back to the smoking patio.
Now, we had one guy that was a problem all night, he had a general admission ticket and we had told him at least 3 times he had to go down there, and I'm pretty sure he left a couple times through the smoking patio and tried to get back in our door. After dealing with him at least 5 different times, we told him, he wasn't coming back in and that he needed to leave. Well at one time we had about 5 people standing inside (we have outer doors, a little place and then inside doors, so there's probably about 10 feet by 50? feet where people can stand but not be all the way inside) complaining to each other that both the door ladies were bitches, I didn't need to hear it, I could tell. And this guy comes back in (all the outside doors are locked but some of the other people let him in), so he (green coat guy) and another pissed guy (bald guy), started going to different doors playing with us. My supervisor was at our door at that time, so while me and the other lady were dealing with BG, he dealt with GCG, and they got to talking in-between the doors and my supervisor asked him to leave and GCG turned around and hit my supervisor, so that guy didn't get to go home, he got to spend the night in a cell (I'm guessing anyway, last I saw the cops were leading him off to another door). That was the only big problem I had. We had heard over the radio calls for officers and paramedics on the floor.
After Axel started at 12:30, he was on until about 3, and I finally made it home about 3:45. Put my long 9 hours in, and I get to go back to work basketball in about an hour. I'm debating about that, because I really don't feel good. I don't know if that's an after effect of the concert or not, I do know my sore throat (from talking and the smoke and stuff in the air), my headach, and my aching legs are after effects.

If you win this case, justice will prevail, and if you lose, justice will also prevail. Now that is a strange case.

Take my Hand, Precious Lord, lyrics by Thomas Andrew Dorsey, 1932

Precious Lord, take my hand.
Lead me on, let me stand.
I am tired, I am weak, and worn.
Through the storm, through the night,
Lead me on to the light.
Take my hand, precious Lord,
Lead me home.

When my way grows drear,
Precious Lord, lead me near,
When my life is almost gone.
Hear my cry, hear my call.
Hold my hand, lest I fall.
Take my hand, precious Lord,
Lead me home.

When the darkness appears
And the night draws near,
And the day is past and gone,
At the river I stand.
Guide my feet, hold my hand,
Take my hand, precious Lord,
Lead me home.

A New M16, Just Doin What He Had To Do

Remember the men and women who died this time of year:

8th Of November by Big & Rich
He said goodbye to his momma
As he left South Dakota
To fight for the Red, White, and Blue
He was 19 in green with a new M-16
Just doin' what he had to do.
He was dropped in the jungle
Where the choppers would rumble
With the smell of napalm in the air
Then the sargeant said, "Look up ahead"
And like a dark, evil cloud
1,200 came downon him and 29 more
They fought for their lives
But most of them died
In the 173rd Airborne

(Chorus)
On the 8th of November,
The angels were cryin'
As they carried his brothers away
With the fire rainin' down
And the Hell all around
There were few men left standin' that day
Saw the eagle fly, Through a clear, blue sky
1965, the 8th of November

Now hes 58A
nd his ponytails grey
But the battle still plays in his head
He limps when he walks,
But hes strong when he talks
About the shrapnel they left in leg
He puts on a grey suit
Over his airborne tattoo
He ties it on one time a year
And remembers the fallen,
As he orders a tall one
And swallows it down with his tears

(Chorus)
On the 8th of November,
The angels were cryin'
As they carried his brothers away
With the fire rainin' down
And the Hell all around
There were few men left standin' that day
Saw the eagle fly,
Through a clear, blue sky
1965, the 8th of November
Saw the eagle fly,
Through a clear, blue sky
1965

(Chorus)
On the 8th of November,
The angels were cryin'
As they carried his brothers away
With the fire rainin' down
And the Hell all around
There were few men left standin' that day

(Chorus)
On the 8th of November,
The angels were cryin'
As they carried his brothers away
With the fire rainin' down
And the Hell all around
There were few men left standin' that day
Saw the eagle fly,
Through a clear, blue sky
1965, the 8th of November
The 8th of November
The 8th of November

He said goodbye to his momma
As he left South Dakota
To fight for the Red, White, and Blue
He was 19 in green with a new M-16
Just doin' what he had to do.

What else am I gonna do

So here's my commentary and who won what at the CMA awards last night. And if you don't want to read my commentary, scroll down to the bottom where I've listed the winners.
They started out with Brooks & Dunn with Vince Gill and Sheryl Crow performing Building Bridges. It was so nice to see Vince perform, I haven't seen him in awhile. But Sheryl and Brooks & Dunn's vocals sucked. I'm gonna say Sheryl was off, cause it's Brooks & Dunn's song.
Brooks & Dunn were the hosts and it was back in Nashville, I don't know who's stupid idea it was to have it in NY last year, but it was really dumb. I can't say I like the location (building wise) this year, it was in a huge entertainment center thingy, I'd rather they had it in the Grand Ole Opry (which is where I believe it's been in the past).
Bon Jovi presented an award with LeAnn Womack, can't say I like the close-up of him, though, he just looks weird. The Single of the Year was Believe by Brooks & Dunn, I love that song. It makes me cry every time I hear it, I'm not a religious song person, but I do like this one, and some of the others that have been out lately, such as Jesus, Take The Wheel and When I Get Where I'm Going, and the Sawyer Brown one, the name of which escapes me at the moment.
Carrie Underwood performed Before He Cheats, I love this song too.
Song of the Year was presented by LeAnn Womack and someone from All My Children (wasn't really important to me). All the songs nominated for this award struck a heart string with me: 8th Of November by Big & Rich, Believe by Brooks & Dunn, Jesus Take The Wheel by Carrie Underwood, Tonight I Wanna Cry by Keith Urban (one of the most depressing songs I've heard, actually this one I don't really like, so sorry doesn't strike a heart string), When I Get Where I'm Going by Brad Paisley and Dolly Parton, Believe won. Music video were those minus Keith's and added in Kerosene by Miranda Lambert, Believe also won this.
Alan Jackson performed Like Red on A Rose, this is a beautiful song. A nice love song, and having Alan Jackson perform it, makes it so much better, the way his voice sings it. It's a great song. Little Big Town performed Bones, this was also a new song, but it sounds great. I love how their harmony works together. Plus the brown-haired guitar player's pretty hott.
Vocal Group of the Year was given to Rascal Flatts.
Martina McBride performed a great new song: Anyway. Check it out if you can. I love her, she's got such a great voice, and she can hold a note for a long time. Reba McIntire and Martina are my favorite women singers. This song tells you to do shit even though it can be messed up. It's a great life song.
George Strait was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Way to go, George.
Duo of the Year was Brooks & Dunn, not really a surprise, I believe between the 2 awards shows, they've only not won the award one time (they lost to Montgomery Gentry one year), so we've (me and numerous other people) have joked that it should just be renamed the Brooks & Dunn award.
Oh man, Dierks Bentley got married, guess I can cross him off my list. He performed Every Mile A Memory. I like this song it's got such a great rhythm.
Nice little gap between Dierks Bentley performing and Brooks & Dunn coming back out. Big oops there. Male Vocalist was awarded to Keith Urban, who had recently checked himself into an alcohol treatment center, rumored to be part of the arrangement of his marriage to Nicole Kidman.
Miranda Lambert performed a new song: Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (I believe), she's so cute, I love how she knows how to play the guitar and chooses songs that are bitchy, but still cool.
Music Event of the Year was When I Get Where I'm Going by Brad Paisley featuring Dolly Parton. The Horizon Award (given to newer artists) was awarded to Carrie Underwood.
So, Josh Turner sang Would You Go With Me, I love his song Long Black Train, anyway since then, he's shaved/cut his hair really short, I don't like it.
OOOO!!! Jason Aldean performed Hicktown. HE IS SOOO HOTTTT!!!! I LOVE HIM!!!! He's actually the background picture on my desktop, he's soooo hott. It's a bummer he's married. He's my new crush in country music. He also reminds me of dream guy.
Female Vocalist of the Year was awarded to Carrie Underwood, and that's what the whole Faith Hill thing was about. She was in the camera (because they do that to see the reaction of the winner when the name is called), and she throws up her hands and says "WHAT?!" into the camera and walks off. I say it does look she's acting, it didn't seem to be anger, just acting, I guess, but it was real stupid looking. If you're looking for a video, check out my previous post.
Album of the Year was Time Well Wasted by Brad Paisley, I was kinda hoping for Kenny Chesney's album, oh well.
And Kenny won Entertainer of the Year. It was kinda funny cause, Barbara Mandrell paused before saying it, and you could hear the audience saying "Kenny"

To recap, in case you don't care about the commentary.

Don't Seem To Give A Fuck

It was such a quick and short post this morning that I forgot to add the links to those blogs, sorry. I fixed that. You should go complain to Kate, and thank Bobby
So, if any of you watched the CMA Awards last night, apparently Faith Hill got a little upset over not winning the Female Vocalist of the year. Watch the video here. I haven't watched them yet, so when I do, I'm planning to list the winners of everything and my commentary.

Also, Kate didn't do my meme, but as a consolation prize we have Bobby's version of it. Check it out.

This is one of my new favorite songs:

Jetsetter by Morningwood

This is a jetsetter music letter from me to you
This is a jetsetter music letter from me to you

I’m writing from the bedroom, I’m ennui and in my cups.
All the kids are kissing in the bathroom, licking bags to get their ups.
I’ve gotten 3 proposals since I left home, and none have left me impressed
It's getting much harder to say no and even harder to say yes

This is a jetsetter music letter from me to you
This is a jetsetter music letter from me to you

You've had enough annihilator, whose treasure was her trap
And when she wrapped her legs around your head, you knew you wouldn’t get it back.
It’s been 16 days since I've left home, 16 days too long
And what she does feels oh so right, so you know it must be wrong.

This is a jetsetter music letter from me to you
This is a jetsetter music letter from me to you
Whoa

Now I’m writing cause I miss you, and I’m writing cause I’m stuck
All these strangers all around me, they don't seem to give a fuck
And I’m tired of sleeping in strange beds,
And I've done more than you'd allow
I’ve had enough of jetsetting and I wanna come back now.

I wanna come back now
I wanna come back now
I wanna come back now
I wanna come back now

This is a jetsetter music letter
This is a jetsetter music letter
This is a jetsetter music letter

This is a jetsetter music letter (From me to you)
This is a jetsetter music letter (From me to you)
This is a jetsetter music letter (From me to you)
This is a jetsetter music letter (From me to you)
This is a jetsetter music letter (From me to you)

This is a jetsetter music letter

Wow.
