People Annoy Me

Big surprise on my title, huh?

I had a chick in the store the other day with a phone glued to her ear chatting about how she didn't like that her babysitter had someone come over to the house while they weren't there (yes, I listened, when you come into a store, are the only one there, there's no music, you can pretty much expect I'm gonna hear your conversation. If it's so private, chat in your car, or your house), and then when she walked out, gave me a look that was something to the fact that I didn't help her. If you're going to be rude enough to have your phone plastered to your ear the whole time you're in here, I won't be greeting you. I've had enough people give me another look when I greet them while they're chatting on their phone. Because, then, I'm interrupting their conversation.
If I need help in a store, I'm not talking on my phone, and I sure don't have earphones in my ears (as I've seen enough times at the bookstore, while checking people out).

I'm also quite amused at people that say they're looking for ideas, then I have to pry out of them who they're looking for, and they get annoyed. My job is to help you with stuff in the store, if you're coming into the store looking for something, at least have the decency to tell me what, or who its for, then I can help you without (hopefully) getting on your nerves.

I hate it when people park illegally and then turn their hazards on, cause that makes it OK. Kevin loves writing tickets for those, cause then they argue, and they still get a ticket. Like today, there's a pizza delivery guy parked in the driving lane with his hazards on, cause I guess he's too lazy to park, go in and get his next deliveries and then leave. Course the pizza guys do that all the time, there have been numerous times when Kevin drops me off and he has to drive around a car in the fire lane with its hazards on, and while we're sitting there (for 3 seconds) the pizza person gets in and drives off. I think it'd be very funny if they were there when the fire trucks had to use the fire lane, cause they'd just push them out of the way. I'd laugh.

They had a segment on Tyra about morals, and showed some features of the ABC show, What Would You Do? One little 'experiment' they did was have a chick walk away from her laptop and cell phone in a hotel lobby, and then someone 'steals' them. I would've laughed. I've seen so many people do that at the library when I worked there. It's not my job to watch your stuff, how do I know whose it is? Mind you, I do pay attention. People have this false sense of safety when they're are people around. I would never walk off with my stuff sitting out. Even when I worked at the library and we were able to have our laptops out front, if I had to go to the bathroom, you can be sure I tucked my laptop (and anything else) underneath the counter, where my bosses would see someone go into.
The world is not as safe as it was when I was a kid, when you could leave stuff out. There's so many people that do crimes of opportunity because you were too stupid to take your laptop with you, or shut your car off and take the keys when you went into the grocery store for a minute. Yes, it sucks when those things are taken, but it's your own damn fault.

One of Kevn's coworkers the other day said they hated ruining people's days writing meter tickets downtown (when it was 70 degrees out), we were both thinking you are in the wrong profession. They took the job, to get closer to the police department because they want to be a cop someday. Good luck no ruining people's days as a cop. Someone somewhere said about 90% (I have no idea I'm paraphrasing) of the time when people run into cops its because something bad happens. Very true. I also read this, about how the cop wanted to help people, we had a guy at the PD here like that, he was a teacher, now I don't know the reason he quit, but I can guess it's because people didn't want his help. That's how it is, so many people have this idea that people are good. People aren't good, yes there is a percentage that is good, but most people you run into have other intentions.

Idiotioc people

What kind of person names their kid Adolf Hitler, and then wonders why people are upset over it. Way to set up your kid for disappointment for the rest of his life. He's going to be teased or not liked at all, all through school. No one's gonna wanna date him, I think it'd be wise of him to change his name when he's old enough.

Thanks A Lot

Thank you old guy that decided to walk into the store with a lit cigarette hanging out of his mouth and not thinking that was bad. He realized it when I glared at him and now the store smells like cigarette smoke. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

UGH!!

Why do the people in my neighborhood seem to be so stupid? Originally I was just going to complain about the people and thier stupidity in parking, but now people with dogs get included (and if you happen to be one of the people I'm complaining about, tough, since I know the things I'm saying are true, too bad for you).
So, I get the wonderful job of shoveling snow today, because we got about 2-3 inches of snow between yesterday and today and it's still coming down. My mom called me and told me there was snow shoveling to do. NO SHIT!!! Like I wasn't outside with you yesterday and I didn't walk through the snow last night, so I didn't know there was shoveling to do.
So, I'm shoveling and while taking my short breaks or just noticing stuff around my neighborhood, I notice 2 illegally parked cars. One being a van down the street that's parked in the parkway (that's the part of your driveway that's between the street and the sidewalk), that's illegal. And two, the jeep that's parked on the wrong side of the street, now they couldn't say they didn't know because there's a no parking sign 10 feet in front of them. If you can't read, you really shouldn't be driving.
DOGS:
In the city, it's code (or law) to have your dog on a leash at all times while you are outside and it's not in a fenced in yard. The guy down my street decided to take his dog on a walk while he was bicycling, and then let it run wild to go to the bathroom after they got back. And then as I was going to buy some pop, I run into a chick talking on her cell phone with her dog not on a leash. So, I tell her it's law to have her dog on a leash within city limits. Her response: "I'm not from Iowa", and I tell her she should research laws if she's going to live somewhere. She says her dog's very well behaved and that "she lives 2 blocks away" so it's ok. I love it how people always say their dog is well behaved when you tell them it's supposed to be on a leash. SO FRICKIN' WHAT???? Just because it's well behaved doesn't mean it might accidentally run in front of a car and get hit, to which point you would blame the driver. Or maybe someone has some really good food in their pocket and the dog really wants it, it could attack them because of this. And, some people don't like dogs running through their yards, I don't mind it until it starts shitting in my yard. I may look like just a normal citizen, but that doesn't mean I don't know city code. If I was a cop telling you this, you'd probably give me the same reasons and then something about I'll put it on a leash next time, because you obviously don't have a leash with you now. I think she was just really pissed that not only did I tell her the law (which she may or may not have known), I interrupted her phone call. BOO FRICKING HOO!! If I knew where she lived I'd call animal control and say that she was letting her dog run loose, they would most likely say they got a complaint and go have a chat with her.

The more I know about city code, the more I see people not obeying it and it drives me nuts. In some situations, too much knowledge sucks.

Pink Cadillac

OK, how many people remember/know the song Pink Cadillac? I'm posting the lyrics below if you want them. But I have a question, who sang the original? I've heard 2 versions, one by Jerry Lee Louis and the other by Bruce Springsteen, I'd have to say, I prefer the Boss' version of it.
Here's a way to know if your car's window tints are too dark: you have to roll down the window to see if cross traffic is coming. I saw someone do that today, that's just wrong.
Another thing not to do in traffic, back out of the turn lane and into another lane. I saw someone do this, and it was a good thing there was no one very close to him (behind him, or in the lane he decided to go into).
I'm so excited Basketball season starts tomorrow. Now if you know me, I don't like/care about sports, but I love basketball season here, cause I work at the coliseum where our games are played. So it's a busy time for me, and I get paid (not a ton) for the games, and I'm very much in need of money this year. I just took out more money from my account today, more money that I don't have. I hate being poor.

You may think I'm foolish
For the foolish things I do
You may wonder how come I love you
When you get on my nerves like you do
Well baby you know you bug me
There ain't no secret 'bout that
Well come on over here and hug me
Baby I'll spill the facts
Well honey it ain't your money
'Cause baby I got plenty of that
I love you for your pink Cadillac
Crushed velvet seats
Riding in the back
Oozing down the street
Waving to the girls
Feeling out of sight
Spending all my money
On a Saturday night
Honey I just wonder what you do there in back
Of your pink Cadillac
Pink Cadillac

Well now way back in the Bible
Temptations always come along
There's always somebody tempting
Somebody into doing something they know is wrong
Well they tempt you, man, with silver
And they tempt you, sir, with gold
And they tempt you with the pleasures
That the flesh does surely hold
They say Eve tempted Adam with an apple
But man I ain't going for that
I know it was her pink Cadillac
Crushed velvet seats
Riding in the back
Oozing down the street
Waving to the girls
Feeling out of sight
Spending all my money
On a Saturday night
Honey I just wonder what it feels like in the back
Of your pink Cadillac
Now some folks say it's too big
And uses too much gas
Some folks say it's too old
And that it goes too fast
But my love is bigger than a Honda
It's bigger than a Subaru
Hey man there's only one thing
And one car that will do
Anyway we don't have to drive it
Honey we can park it out in back
And have a party in your pink Cadillac

Hey Uncle Same put your name at the top of his list

More Darwin Awards:
OVERHEATED ENGINE
Confirmed True by Darwin (7 January 2004, Croatia)
Eastern Europe is known for its harsh winters, and Zlatko, 52, had seen his fair share of them in his town nearZagreb. But when temperatures dropped low enough to play havoc with outdoor machinery, Zlatko was exasperated to find that his Opel Kadett had fallen victim to the cold, repeatedly refusing to start. The engine must be frozen, he decided. He remembered times he himself had been freezing in those icy Croatian winters. There was nothing better than warming up before a toasty roaring fire. Yes! That was clearly the solution to his problem. A roaring fire would warm up the Opel's engine. Zlatko fetched some old newspapers, stuffed them under the engine, and lit them. While waiting for the engine to warm up, he wandered off -- a fortunate occurance, because his beloved car exploded in a fireball. The heartbroken man told reporters, "I couldn't start the engine and realized it was frozen. Now my lovely car is destroyed."Luckily, Zlatko has identified what went wrong."Maybe I used too much paper," he said.

THE ARMY'S A BLAST
Confirmed True by Darwin (6 May 2004, Ukraine)
Piling up live artillery is grueling work, so it makes perfect sense that a group of soldiers would take a cigarette breakat lunch time. The warehouse was filled with 92,000 tons of ammunition --until the soldiers lit up their ciggies and inhaled deeply, ignoring warnings that smoking can cause cancer. They flicked the butts away and went back to work. The glowing embers of the tobacco butts acted like slowfuses, which started a small fire that nobody noticed until it ignited a chain reaction of massive explosions. The explosions lasted for a week, tossing debris as far as 25 miles away, destroying buildings in a two-mile radius, and forcing the evacuation of thousands of nearby residents. Red-hot shrapnel set off additional fires in nearby towns and ruptured a minor gas pipeline. Total damage from the smokebreak was estimated at $750 million. Miraculously, only one of the soldiers at the arsenal died in the disaster. Six soldiers were charged with "grossly neglecting the fire safety rules and smoking on the ammunition site."

CAUGHT IN THE AUGER Unconfirmed by Darwin
"Welcome my son, welcome to the machine."-Pink Floyd
(31 July 1995, Christchurch, New Zealand)
An ice-maker may seem innocuous, but when it's big enough to walk into -- for example, one that supplies iceto fishing boats -- it can be so dangerous that safety procedures and fail-safe devices are required. So it was a bit of a surprise when employees at a fish processing plant heard screams emanating from inside the giant ice-maker.An employee had been running the machine when the flow of ice jammed. Access to the machine's auger chamber was restricted, and employees are trained never to enter the chamber while the auger is running. It would be easy enough to ignore the warning signs, but it is hard to get around another safety feature: the auger will not run unless the operator holds down a foot pedal outside the chamber. Take your foot off the pedal and the machine shuts down. There was no way the operator could run the auger and also enter the chamber. Or so it seemed, but one enterprising employee found a way. He laid a heavy piece of metal on the foot pedal to keep the auger running while he entered the chamber to clear the ice jam. He was caught by the swirling auger and drawn inevitably, and fatally, into the ice machine. Ironically, the employee had helped negotiate a labor contract stipulating that workers should scrupulously follow all safety procedures and abide by the company's operating rules.

Hope you all were entertained with that.

Swing, swing from the chariot

So, its Thursday, and I apologize that none of y'all have found anything exciting to read on here for a few days, but you know how it goes.
I was reading the Daily today, and they keep having articles about Facebook (online community, they keep sticking it with Myspace), and today they said people are getting fired because of things they say about their job. I have a tendency not to post about my jobs, unless it's something really interesting, exciting, like the Journey/Def Leppard concert. I just feel that the internet is not the place to complain about my job (go figure), I have friends I can complain to for that (lucky them). And it seems I'm right, yes I know that basically anyone can find anything on the internet, so if you complain outright about your job, and someone that works with, or is your boss reads its, you're kinda SOL.
I suppose y'all wanna know about exciting things that have happened since the 17th, well I hate to disappoint you, but you're not gonna get much. I've been swamped with school stuff, and I'm still behind (such as life, or at least mine). Oh, well, I deal, and nudge myself on, I gotta do it, no use complaining, it ain't gonna solve anything.
I'm quite amused (and annoyed) with some of the people on campus. You've all run into these people, they have those earbuds that fit nicely into their ears, and yet they have to have their music up so loud so you can hear it (words too) about 3 or 4 feet away. That to me is worse than cars with their music up loud. Cause cars are there and then they're gone, problem solved, but when you're sitting in a room with these people (or on the bus, as the case happens to be sometimes), that bothers me so much. And I think half of that is cause tiny noises seem to give me headaches so easily. Like if there's a buzzing of a machine, if I sit listening to that for hours (even sometimes 10 min), I get the most annoying headaches. Course then I stick my headphones on and listen to music, and people ask how I can do that with a headache, well most of the time, my country music helps my headaches, and the music drowns out the little noises.
The other thing is computers. I've noticed in my classes where people use computers, that you can always tell who has the computer to take notes, and doesn't really know much about them and those that do. The note-takers, never let the computer fall asleep, they always touch the mouse when it blacks out. Now, letting the screen saver come on, or letting it fall asleep is a good thing for the computer. The whole point of a screen saver is so the background, or whatever is running, doesn't imprint itself into the monitor (now I have no idea how this happens, and it may not happen as much with the newer machines, but this is what I was told, when I had my first laptop), and it falling asleep is good cause it's conserving battery power (I know some of the newer machines have longer battery lives, but some computers don't and I also know that the wireless card, which it seems everyone has in their comp, sucks the battery power). Also, there's this kid (this has happened twice now), that sits in the same building as I waiting for a class (I'm guessing), and generally at the same computer, that seems so mad when he's using it, he pounds on the keyboard, mouse, and table (which really doesn't help me using the computer), and then slams it shut when he's done. Yeah, like that's gonna help.
So, I'm excited for the weekend, actually almost all the stuff between now and Sun is good (not really excited about a few classes, but I deal well). Tonight is Survivor (yes, I like reality shows. DEAL), and CSI premiere. Tomorrow I get 3 hrs of break between my classes and I get to watch Mr. Hottie tomorrow, Men in Trees is on tomorrow night. Sat is the Hog Roast at the Harley store, only its supposed to be cold, and sun is a local art show/sale. Course its' supposed to be cold from now until sometime next week so that sucks, but...
Actually I should be used to this right? Considering where I live with our harsh winters, and I do, I just have to have the adjustment period that's required for my body, while it's switching from Summer to winter. There are some gorgeous days in the winter, when it's cold.
So, yeah, I'll see if I can have something exciting to write about next time.

Your ass is gonna be on television

I think I'm shrinking. Not a good thing, seeings as how I'm probably on the lower end of my weight group as it is. But I noticed on Wed, how much my pants kept sagging down as I was trying to walk somewhere. Now, that could be cause my appetite has been off lately. I haven't really been hungry for 3 meals a day (or like my usual day, 2 meals and a crapload of snacks), I've rarely been hungry for one meal. Mostly I've been eating lunch and a little something before going to bed. It's not a good setup, but hell if I'll be complaining to a Dr. about it. My theory is: If I can function why the hell should I go to a Dr.? Course since my insurance runs out in Dec I should go to the Dr, dentist and eye doctor to make sure I'm as normal as I'm supposed to be, but I don't like medical professionals so, that's not gonna happen.
OK, enough about my health, I'm sure ya'll don't care anyway. And since I know very few people read this, I don't need to be chasing them away with boring ass complaints about my health.
I'm quite amused that people come into the library and can't read. See, we have a large room where if a person is too loud everyone can hear it, so we have signs all over asking people to take their phone calls outside. Well, one of our regulars was chatting on his phone today, and apologized for talking in the room, and then when I got back to the desk, he was still sitting their talking, until I gave him a glare that is.
I used to take their apologies to heart, but when they're the same people and they know that we don't allow them chatting on their cells in here, well, it just doesn't mean anything anymore.
UGH! So, I was reminded how much I dislike children on Tuesday while I was watching the parade. There were about 3 or 4 of them shaking the stop sign, so I yelled at them and they actually listened and ran away. Maybe it's not so much kids that I don't like, just the bunch that the parents don't really pay attention to, so they run all over doing basically whatever they want. That could be it, most likely it's both.
And that is my exciting news of the week. I hope the carpenter's gone when I get home, so I can sit and watch tv, yep I'm thinking about skipping my walk today, even though I shouldn't as I've only gone on 2 walks this week. Course I'm also getting sick of going out for my walk and having it be after 8 when I get home, and then watching 2 or 3 hours of TV, and staying up til midnight and then having to get up early the next morning, you'd think I'd learn. Oh, well.
Hope everyone else is having a good week and they survived the 4th in one piece.
