I never read your letter

And once again, I wonder why I let men have so much power over me.
I was talking to Kevin last night, complaining about him working and he said "Hmm, hang out with you or make $150" Musta been a hard decision, considering he worked all night.
It's nice to know where I stand in his life.

Good job, Officer Bob.

Cops are supposed to set a good example right? So what's it say about an officer when he is arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated?
My guess: he's getting fired.
Good job, Officer Bob.

I can feel that muddy water

How upsetting is this?

Dear Jane Subscriber:
With regret, we have decided that we will no longer be publishing Jane.
In its place, we will be sending you Glamour for the duration of your remaining Jane subscription term.
We think you’ll love Glamour. Like Jane, it’s packed with everything smart, sexy women want to know – about your body, your beauty, your relationships…and more!
If for any reason you choose not to receive Glamour, please contact us at (800) 219-5924 for a full refund of the remaining issues still due on your subscription. If you are already a Glamour subscriber, the copies due will be added to your current subscription.
Sincerely,
Charles Simpson for Jane

I received it in my snail mail box yesterday, and I'm a bit annoyed, especially since you’d think one would get a letter/postcard from the editor of Jane rather than some random person. In Jane they like to pretend we’re all family (readers and the writers), so it’s kinda annoying. And what about all the people that buy it off the newsstand, are they just ignored. They’ll be going out to get their monthly Jane and it won’t be there and all the sellers can tell them is that it no longer exists. I haven’t quite decided if I’m gonna go with the subscription to Glamour or not, I figure I’ll try it out, but if I wanted a subscription to Glamour, you’d think I’d already have one. I wouldn’t mind a full refund for the Jane subscription, especially since mine doesn’t end until November of 2009.

So, I was listening to NPR the other day (National Public Radio), and they had their daily news show, All Things Considered, on. They were talking about how the relatives of the people tramatized by the Virginia Tech shootings were receiving payments for being traumatized. How wrong is that? Common sense tells you, if you’re suing sue the relatives of the guy that did it, of course they didn’t know he was going to do it, and they’re already dealing with enough grief on their part. It’s just so wrong, it makes me think people might hope for another shooting, just so they could go and get paid because their family member died, was injured, or even was in the vicinity of the shooting. YEAH, they didn’t even have to be injured by the shooter to get paid. It’s beyond wrong. Course things seem to be going to hell ever since that bitch sued McDonald’s because she was so stupid she spilled her hot coffee on herself. Of course, you also have to be wondering where we’re getting the judges that are awarding these claims to people. There need to be judges with common sense in the courts. Hell all judges should have common sense before becoming a judge.

I just needed to vent for the day.

I always said, that'd be it

Ya know, I used to think 3 days without a post was a long time, now I can go a week and I don't think it's very long, sorry folks. Life gets in my way, usually when I get home from work, I don’t want to sit in my desk chair and stare at the computer screen.
So, I got my summer vacation, it wasn’t quite long enough. Kevin and I went up to my parents condo on Lake Okoboji in Arnolds Park. We left after I got done with work on Sat, and came back Tues morning, because neither of us could afford to take a week off. I hope next week I can have the whole week. It’s getting so annoying just going up there for a couple days and driving back, I hate squishing everything into 2 or 3 days, I want some time to relax. Mom was saying if you can spend that much time with someone and still be able to stand them and want to spend time with them, it’s a good sign in the relationship. We had one time where I wanted to laze on the deck (we have a deck that looks over the lake, the lounge chair was really comfortable and the sun was nicely shinning, so it was just perfect to lay and enjoy it) and Kevin wanted to go swimming in the lake, to which I let him know I just wanted to relax, and he got kinda moody about that.
We went swimming in the lake once, walked around the lake a bit, visited the Abbie Gardner memorial site, went mini golfing a couple times, walked around looking at stores, went to Spirit Lake to look at stores there, and ate out. That was pretty much it.
This past spring, my parents were discussing going to Hawaii the week between Christmas and New Year’s, at the time I was interested but I didn’t have a job and wasn’t sure about my schedule. A couple of weeks ago, they went to meet with the travel agent (once I got my job, my boss said she was thinking about being closed that week), and found out about a trip to Rome. So, that night, they discussed Rome and Hawaii to me, they really wanted to go to Rome. I said I didn’t, they wouldn’t accept that I really have no desire to go to Rome, not that I’m being stubborn. So, they say, think about it for a couple days and we’ll get back together, when we got together, I told them that I would be ok with my vacation to Okoboji and didn’t need a vacation in December. Ross happened to call right after we were done with our meeting, and my parents told him to go ahead and book the Rome trip for the three of them. That pissed me off, because you could tell, they had no thoughts about going to Hawaii after they learned about Rome, just that they were telling me they were considering it. And they still hadn’t wrapped their minds around the thought that I don’t want to go to Rome. So, Tuesday when I was chatting with mom about Okoboji, and saying how I wanted a week vacation, she called me that night, “So, do you want us to book on our trip to Rome?” To which I blew up at her, and she got annoyed saying I didn’t need to yell at her about it. Why is it so hard to accept the fact that I don’t want to go to Rome?
So, classes started at the college this past Monday, can’t say I miss them. I don’t miss the kids wandering around lost, coming into class 10 min late because they weren’t smart enough to figure out where their classes were before the class actually started, running to catch the bus, because they think it should wait for them, coming in to the library and asking shit that’s clearly posted, checking out the same book for hours at a time, because they won’t buy the book (that will happen later in the semester, when they get closer to tests). We went to WalMart last night, and its still pretty apparent that people are still moving in, shuffling themselves to the stores for those things they didn’t think to bring to campus.
No, I don’t miss classes, or the people you run into on campus.

We're giving this life everything we've got.

Because I was curious. I don't know if I agree with it. Why is it, that if I only have a few very good, close friends that's translated as bad?

Know I wanna say 'em all just right

Sometimes, I don't even know why I bother. I am a moderator in one of my ATC groups, I just sent cards back with a new packet of things (they use things from this packet to create cards). Anyways, one of the members was saying thank you to me for stuff I sent out (J), another member (M), was 'complaining' that this member got extra stuff, and after J explained she sent in extra items for a different swap that M didn't participate in, M said she didn't really care for my cards, and not to tell me. Maybe next time she should make sure she doesn't send the message through the group email. It's too bad I don't have the power to unsubscribe people. Course maybe it is a good thing, cause then I can't act on impulse. Yes, I know I can't please the whole world and make stuff that everyone likes, but don't go and complain about my cards, when for some of your cards, all you do is stick two items together and call it done. We had another member that I told them this was not acceptable for cards for this group, and they got so upset, they unsubb'ed. I haven't complained to this member, because she has a tendency to spit out pretty good cards, but some of them suck.
What a great way to start the day, thank you people.
Oh, and then while checking my blogs, I found out I was supposed to look at the sky last night/this morning, not tonight, for the meteor shower. So now I'm a bad mood :(

Where are you going?

Sometimes I get so worked up and have this great blog all planned out, then I get home and forget the whole thing. Someone tole me I was ornery today because I told Kevin (I'm tired of remembering to go back and delete his name, so I'm printing it from now on out, and changing all my previous posts, you'll get over it) to go ticket a Jeep that the driver hadn't paid the meter for. Dictionary.com defines ornery as:
1. ugly and unpleasant in disposition or temper.
2. stubborn.
3. low or vile.
4. inferior or common; ordinary.
I'm gonna guess they meant definition #1, as they have used this adjective with me before. What I don't get is how I'm ornery because I feel people should be punished for breaking the law (and I will admit I believe some things shouldn't be punished for, but I hate people that disregard parking laws, and NOT because my boyfriend writes parking tickets for the city), someone wanna explain that to me?
Ladies (I guess men, too, but I've never had this problem with a guy), when you're wearing somehting white, make sure it's not see through, or if it is, put something other than your underwear underneath it, we don't care that you're wearing a bra (actually we do, because then we're not treated to your breasts) and blue underwear, maybe we care, but we don't need to see it.
Kevin and I were in Earl May this weekend, and they had some degus, the babies are the size and look of gerbils, and the adults are about the size of a baby rabbit. Anyways, there was a mother and 8 babies, and it was so cute/funny to watch the kids fighting and bugging the mom. Free great entertainment, they even have free popcorn in the store. Can't ask for much more.
New funny show, Just For Laughs, it airs Tuesdays nights 8/7 central (sorry too late to watch this week) on ABC. It reminds me of Candid Camera, except they don't have people sitting in a studio talking about the clip, and they don't feed you that line "Smile, you're on Candid Camera" at the end of the clip, but still hilarious.
Ya know how people in relationships always seem to have a song? I've decided Ticks by Brad Paisley is our song. Not that it's really a love song, but I remember one night when we were sitting in a park listening to the radio, and it came on and I told Kevin to pay attention to the song. So, now everytime I hear it, it puts me in a good mood. I've also been listening to songs and certain phrases pop out at me that describe how I feel about our relationships, I wish I could find a whole song that did that. Here's a couple I've heard recently:
I am no superman
I have no answers for you
I am no hero, that's for sure
But I do know one thing
Where you go is where I want to be
from Where Are You Going by Dave Matthews Band
But now that you're here
I just feel like I'm constantly dreaming
Cause something's gotta go wrong
Cause I'm feelin' way too damn good
from Feelin' Way Too Damn Good by Nickelback
Anyone got anything like this in their relationship?
Is it possible to get a headache from a lack of noise, because it's way too quiet?

One foot in the hole

Damn, I'm glad it's the weekend. I've been working all the hours at the store this week, my boss was having surgery yesterday, so she was training me to open and close. So, I got to work over 7 hours Wed, Fri, and today, and over 9 hours on Thurs. K was telling me how people work longer than that every day, and I get that, but when you're not used to working that much and you start doing it every day, it wears you out. I know I'm gonna like the money, and I will wish in the future I could work that much all the time, but everyday this week, I was so tired when I got home, all I wanted to do was sit.
And if people would come into the store and buy stuff that would be extremely nice. We had a couple and their little baby come in today, and I'm pretty sure they just came in to get out of the heat. You know how you can tell someone's not interested in a store, I could tell the moment they came in. At first it looked like they were looking for the pottery shop next door, then they started looking around a bit. After awhile, I was listening to their conversation, which they were having and not looking at anything. I was thinking they would be pissed if I said anything about their conversation, cause it seemed kinda private, but HELLO at least pretend to be interested in the stuff in the store. And then the mother left her coffee for us. I think we're gonna have to stick a sign up saying NO FOOD ALLOWED, it's so annoying. People walk in with their food and just start walking around. The stuff in the store is naturally dyed, so if any oils, acids, etc touch it, it changes color, I'm just waiting for someone to accidently spill something, cause I can guarantee they're buying it, no matter how much they protest. Hey, you damage my product you're buying it.
And, lately, my boss has been having problems with her landlord (OK, there's always been a problem). The other day, he came in and they got into a very loud argument, I was at the front of the store, cringing. I can't stand people arguing that loud. My parents used to do it, and I was always afraid they were gonna get a divorce they way they were yelling at each other. The other day at the store, I was just waiting for them to jump at each other, it wa freaky.
So, my parents went on a mini trip last weekend, and I took care of the house for them, picked up the mail and newspaper and watered the plants. So, anyways they get back last Tues. I get home from work, and there's an empty pop can and some papers I accidentally left down there, and I haven't heard a thank you from them for taking care of stuff yet. I don't expect pay or anything, but it won't hurt you to say thank you.
So, you all know I fucked up my toe a month or so ago, well I did it again. I'm thinking of just staying in bed for the rest of my life. K and I were picking up pop cans (empty and not, mostly not), and I picked up one that was pretty full, so it nicely spilled on me when I was picking up another one. So, I went into my bathroom, and I was lifting my leg up into the sink to wash it off, pretty simple, right? Not so much, the sink has a little lip on it, and somehow in the process of lifting my leg, I stubbed my toe on that. And it started bleeding, and I bent the nail back, about 1/4 inch? Thankfully, it doesn't really hurt, but it won't let me bend it. DAMMIT!!!! Ok, I take it back, it's throbbing a tiny bit.
