I'm staring out into the night, trying to hid the pain

So, if any of you are old readers from my other blog, you would know that I had taken to posting the interesting letters from Sgt Grit's weekly Marine Newsletter. I'm still doing that over there, but I ran across this great letter while I was reading and thought I'd post in on both blogs. If you want to read the full newsletter go here.

What Is An American?
You probably missed it in the rush of news recently, but there was a report that a Pakistani newspaper had published someone's offer of a reward to anyone who killed an American, any American.
So I just thought I would write to let them know what an American is, so they will know when they find one.
An American is English…or French, or Italian, Irish, German, Spanish, Polish, Russian or Greek. An American may also be African, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Australian, Iranian, Asian, or Arab, or Pakistani, or Afghan.
An American is Christian, or Jewish, or Buddhist, or Muslim. In fact, there are more Muslims in America than in Afghanistan. The only difference is that in America they are free to worship as they choose.
An American is also free to believe in no religion. For that he will answer only to God, not to the government, or to armed thugs claiming to speak for God or the government.
An American is from the most prosperous land in the history of the world. The root of that prosperity can be found in the Declaration of Independence, which recognizes the God-given right of each man and woman to the pursuit of happiness.
An American is generous. Americans have helped friend and foe in their time of need. When Afghanistan was overrun by the Soviet army 20 years ago, Americans came with arms and supplies to enable the people to win back their country. As of the morning of September 11, Americans were giving more than any other nation to the poor in Afghanistan.
An American does not have to obey the mad ravings of ignorant, ungodly, cruel, old men. American men will not be fooled into giving their lives to kill innocent people, so that foolish old men may stay in power. American women are free to show their beautiful faces to the world or not, as they choose.
An American is free to criticize his government's officials when they are wrong. Then he is free to replace them, by majority vote.
Americans welcome people from all lands, all cultures, all religions, because they are not afraid. They are not afraid that their history, their religion, their beliefs, will be overrun, or forgotten. That is because they know that in this country they will always be free to embrace their religion, their beliefs, their history, as they choose.
And just as Americans welcome all, they enjoy the best that everyone has to bring from all over the world. The best science, the best technology, the best products, the best books, the best music, the best food, the best athletes.
Americans welcome the best, but they also welcome the least. The national symbol of America welcomes your tired and your poor, the wretched refuse of your teeming shores, the homeless, the tempest tossed.
These in fact are the people who built America. Many of them were working in the twin towers in New York on the morning of September 11, trying to provide a better life for their families.
So you can try to kill an American if you must. Hitler did. So did General Tojo and Stalin and Mao Tse-Tung.
But in doing so you will just be killing yourself. Because Americans are not a particular people from a particular place. They are the embodiment of the human spirit of freedom. Everyone who holds to that spirit, everywhere, is an American.
So look around you. You will find more Americans in your land than you thought were there. And you can expect that one day they will rise up and overthrow the old, ignorant, tired tyrants that have troubled too many lands. Then those lands too will join the community of free and prosperous nations.
And America will welcome them.

I read the hymns, and kinda, sorta sung along

So, I have a test today in Phil, and we had a review session on Wed, and one of the chicks started arguing on a piece that we had already covered in class earlier. It was so annoying, I just wanted to tell her, We covered this already, maybe you should have been in class that day. Because she was arguing the same shit that we had talked about in class already. I hate it when people do that, especially when we're reviewing for a test, it's annoying as hell.
Cell phones: yeah, some people on them bother me
We have a policy in the library (if I've already written about this, I'm sorry, deal) where you have to take your cell phone outside and talk, because it's one giant room and everyone can hear you. We don't care if it rings (Ok we care, but we're not gonna yell at you), and you shut it off, but once you start talking on it, and keep talking on it, it bothers us (and probably a few other people). Well this new chick comes in on Tues, and she's sitting at the computers, and her phone rings, and she starts talking on it. So, I glare at her, usually if they're not new that does the trick. Unfortunately it didn't work, so I go over to her and say she needs to take it outside, she gives me the "one moment" sign, and then continues to talk, but not for very long and hangs up. Then she snipely (hope that's spelled right) tells me I didn't know, to which I reply there are signs around (there's one on the door when she came in, at eye level, there's signs on all tables, and there was one sitting in front of her), then she says they're too small (I was thinking maybe you should get your glasses checked). Later she goes and sits at a carrel (individual student study areas), and then a guy comes in and sits beside her, a short time later, his cell rings, which he picks up and starts talking on (cause apparently she can't tell him about the policy), and he hangs up like the minute before I reach him, but I still tell him next time he needs to take it outside. They were back yesterday, with no cell calls.
I'm sitting in a cafe on campus here (also a big room), and there was this chick talking on her phone, nice and loud of course. And I wasn't the only one glaring at her. That's what I do, I consider it rude to ask them to quiet down (not like it's not rude of them to talk so damn loud, but...)
I generally don't chat on my phone if it's an imp conversation, at least not if I don't have any privacy. I don't mind so much if it's my parents, but I think I talk pretty low. At least I've never seen anyone glowing at me.

Gonna feel like hell tonight

So, it's been an OK week. Monday, nothing exciting happened. Tuesday, got me a nice 20 min ride in the middle of the day. Wed, nothing exciting happened (ok something did, but it's not gonna do anything for me if I talk about it, so you don't get to know, and it was more nervous than exciting). And today, got me an almost 2 hr ride. Yeah, it was pretty damn cold, 55 or lower, even with my leather, the lining, a sweatshirt and a 3/4 sleeve shirt. It was mostly my legs and arms that got cold. But it was sweet. My buddy kept asking me if I was cold, but I wasn't gonna complain, there's nothing I could do about it, so why bother. And I tell ya, at the end, my legs were getting painful. So, I took myself a nice warm shower, you have no idea how nice that felt. And tomorrow, I get a free lunch (with my mother, but my friend's coming too, so hopefully she won't be as bad).

So today, my bosses were talking about the SWAT team and that guy in Colorado. I hate it how people are always judging cops for the actions they take. I never get in those conversations, I just won't do it. I've never been in any situations, and I don't feel it's right to judge officers if I haven't been there (personally, I try not to do that in any situation I haven't been in). But they kept asking why the officers didn't act sooner, and all that shit. And then they said that the girl's parents will probably file a lawsuit. What is wrong with people? Think about how the officers are feeling. They probably (like I said, I really don't know) are wondering if they couldn't have done anything more, and all the while you have tons of civilians saying you should have done this or that, or whatever. Kinda like how people always say officers should just shoot the arm. They never think about how hard it is to shoot a hand, how stressful the situation is anyway, and how small amount of time the officers have to make this decision.

Sorry, enough rambling for tonight

Complaints

I have one huge class this semester, and there's always these 2 people that I try very hard not to sit anywhere close to them. Because they have the tendency to talk throughout the whole class. And it's loud enough that it really bugs me. This is because I have very sensitive ears, so little things bug me; but they don't whisper either. And it's not like they really need to come to class, the professor puts the entire notes online for us to download or print out. I always wanna say, shut up. It's nice to know that they don't give a damn about class, but god forbid anyone around them want to listen to the professor.

My computer has this nice little annoying habit where I can barely move the mouse and it either resizes the window I'm in, or closes the whole thing out. It's so helpful when I'm in the middle of something.

Another thing that annoys me: slow walkers. Now, it doesn't bug me so much when I'm not in a hurry to get anywhere, but if I'm on campus, chances are I'm trying to get to a class or work. And I have a tendency to walk fast (actually I have a tendency to do this anyway). So, when I get stuck behind someone, who's walking as if they don't have a care in the world, yeah kinda bugs me. I noticed I'm not the only one who has this problem, when I was rushing past a group yesterday, I noticed a soldier trying to get by a mass, and it's always nice when they take up they take up the WHOLE damn sidewalk.

Go bikers

"Instead of mocking him for going after them, they perhaps set their own safety aside to reach over and rescue him from a position of danger" That's taken from this article where a drunk guy threatened a group of bikers with a billiard cue and got hit by his own car. The guy was offended by the skeletons on some of thier leather Harley Davidson jackets.
So, my weekend kinda sucked. Actually not all of it, just certain parts.
Went to the Hog Roast at the Harley Store here on Sat with my friend Karli, I was kinda bummed cause we didn't stay that long, but that's life, it was actually good in the end, cause I got to go on a walk and still get a ton of reading done for school. So, yeah, got a tiny walk done back from Karli's stopped off at the grocery store and bought me some fruit Cheerios, and some Mike's Hard Cranberry Lemonade (doesn't sound too yummy but it is good). Ran into a friend and chatted with him and his girlfriend for awhile. Got home and did some reading, I was trying to get caught up in my classes (that didn't actually happen, I'll explain that later on). Drank one of my Mike's (if you read my earlier post, you know that), and that basically knocked me out, but considering I hadn't had supper, and I know you shouldn't drink on an empty stomach, but I wasn't going anywhere except to bed, so I decided it was ok.
Sunday, woke up at 7:30 when my mom called me to go out to breakfast. Went to Perkins to try those new 3 egg omelets they've been advertising, had the mushroom and steak one, that was really yummy, filled me right up and the steak was just perfect, nice and tender.
Went to the Art Festival around 10:30, bought me some lavender (now I don't know what to do with it), and an ornament for my mom for Christmas. Cleaned my pig's house (she smells so much nicer now), mowed both lawns (one for the last time because all the paperwork is final today, and it switches hands, I just hope they take good care of it), and then developed this nasty ass headache after that, which made it so I couldn't read, so about 6:30, went and laid down, and set my VCR up, finally went to sleep about 7:30, and woke up today about 6:30, I'm very rested.

Wrapping up from last night

I love it who the chick in Palm Springs says she doesn't do that, you can't say you "don't do that" when you wrote a note to a guy to "give you a hit"
And who keeps a note after giving the chick the drugs? Kinda makes it easy to incriminate yourself.
And the statuette goes to:

cops tonight

I really wish COPS would give us a nice full hour of new shit. If you want pics I'm sure Goddess has pics. Here are my picks for the night.
Palm Beach County, FL: Deputy Mark Lanier, Deputy Hector Pena.
Palm Springs, CA: Officer Anthony Pilutik.
Pittsburgh, PA: Detective Calvin Kennedy
Anchorage, AK: Officer Arthur Anderson,
Pittsburgh, PA: Sgt. Craig Campbell,

Some humorous quotes from the night:
Pittsburgh:
"Why'd you run?"
"Because I'm not tryin' to go to jail"..."You don't understand man, I keep going to jail for other people's bullshit"
"You didn't go to jail for someone else tonight"
2nd Pittsburgh:
"I need help"
"It's not like you came up here to not shoot dope."
"I know"

Palm Springs:
"What am I supposed to do?"
"You're supposed to not smoke crack" you can't say you "don't do that" when you wrote a note to a guy to "give you a hit"

A little commentary: I'm actually feeling a nice alcohol buzz right now, and I'm very tired (which is one of the effects alcohol has on me), and before any of you start complaining, I'm in my own home, I've only drank one 12oz bottle of mike's hard, ok I had about 5 sips of a second one, but looks like I'm gonna have to waste that one, and I'm going to bed soon. If anything is unclear let me know, I'm gonna double check it tomorrow morning

Question for you all: How come officer P always says"This is a wake-up call"?
OK, that's it, I'm gone. I'll post the winner of the statuette tomorrow.

Don't cry for me down here

When I Get Where I'm Going by Brad Paisley, background vocals: Dolly Parton

When I get where I'm going
On the far side of the sky
The first thing that I'm gonna do
Is spread my wings and fly

I'm gonna land beside a lion
And run my fingers through his mane
Or I might find out what it's like
To ride a drop of rain

(Chorus:)
Yeah when I get where I'm going
There'll be only happy tears
I will shed the sins and struggles
I have carried all these years
And I'll leave my heart wide open
I will love and have no fear
Yeah when I get where I'm going
Don't cry for me down here

I'm gonna walk with my grand daddy
And he'll match me step for step
And I'll tell him how I missed him
Every minute since he left
Then I'll hug his neck

Yeah when I get where I'm going
There'll be only happy tears
I will shed the sins and struggles
I have carried all these years
And I'll leave my heart wide open
I will love and have no fear
Yeah when I get where I'm going
Don't cry for me down here

So much pain and so much darkness
In this world we stumble through
All these questions I can't answer
So much work to do

But when I get where I'm going
And I see my maker's face
I'll stand forever in the light
Of his amazing grace
Yeah when I get where I'm going
There'll be only happy tears
Hallelujah
I will love and have no fear
When I get where I'm going
Yeah when I get where I'm going

Hey, it's me again

So I had a CJ class tonight and this chick basically made a fool out of herself in class. We were talking about how cops have to be on their best behavior on and off duty. And she tells us this story that she was at a party and met a guy, and they were drinking and talking. Next day, she finds out he is a cop, she's with her friends who happen to have bags of alcohol, so he asked to see their ID's, they happened to be underage and got tickets for minor in possession. She felt that since she "knew" him that he shouldn't have given the tickets. Most of the class disagreed with her.
I would never want the guys I know not to enforce the law if I broke it. Just cause I know Officer so-and-so doesn't mean I shouldn't be punished if I broke the law.
I was chatting with Goddess about this, and though I do agree the officer shouldn't have been at the party with underage drinkers, this chick shouldn't have expected that she/her friends wouldn't get a ticket.
What do you all think?

So, y'all know I'm a reality show junkie (not all of them), well I watch The Amazing Race, and Survivor and of course COPS, but that's kinda different. Anyways on The Amazing Race, there's this one couple that the chick has one leg, and a prosthetic leg and she keeps going on about how she can do anything all the other people can. Well, then she uses her disability to her advantage, like when they're boarding the plane, she gets on first like she needs to. And later when they're in China (I don't remember what city), she takes a cab saying it's an emergency cause she only has one leg. She knows she's playing this thing.

Swing, swing from the chariot

So, its Thursday, and I apologize that none of y'all have found anything exciting to read on here for a few days, but you know how it goes.
I was reading the Daily today, and they keep having articles about Facebook (online community, they keep sticking it with Myspace), and today they said people are getting fired because of things they say about their job. I have a tendency not to post about my jobs, unless it's something really interesting, exciting, like the Journey/Def Leppard concert. I just feel that the internet is not the place to complain about my job (go figure), I have friends I can complain to for that (lucky them). And it seems I'm right, yes I know that basically anyone can find anything on the internet, so if you complain outright about your job, and someone that works with, or is your boss reads its, you're kinda SOL.
I suppose y'all wanna know about exciting things that have happened since the 17th, well I hate to disappoint you, but you're not gonna get much. I've been swamped with school stuff, and I'm still behind (such as life, or at least mine). Oh, well, I deal, and nudge myself on, I gotta do it, no use complaining, it ain't gonna solve anything.
I'm quite amused (and annoyed) with some of the people on campus. You've all run into these people, they have those earbuds that fit nicely into their ears, and yet they have to have their music up so loud so you can hear it (words too) about 3 or 4 feet away. That to me is worse than cars with their music up loud. Cause cars are there and then they're gone, problem solved, but when you're sitting in a room with these people (or on the bus, as the case happens to be sometimes), that bothers me so much. And I think half of that is cause tiny noises seem to give me headaches so easily. Like if there's a buzzing of a machine, if I sit listening to that for hours (even sometimes 10 min), I get the most annoying headaches. Course then I stick my headphones on and listen to music, and people ask how I can do that with a headache, well most of the time, my country music helps my headaches, and the music drowns out the little noises.
The other thing is computers. I've noticed in my classes where people use computers, that you can always tell who has the computer to take notes, and doesn't really know much about them and those that do. The note-takers, never let the computer fall asleep, they always touch the mouse when it blacks out. Now, letting the screen saver come on, or letting it fall asleep is a good thing for the computer. The whole point of a screen saver is so the background, or whatever is running, doesn't imprint itself into the monitor (now I have no idea how this happens, and it may not happen as much with the newer machines, but this is what I was told, when I had my first laptop), and it falling asleep is good cause it's conserving battery power (I know some of the newer machines have longer battery lives, but some computers don't and I also know that the wireless card, which it seems everyone has in their comp, sucks the battery power). Also, there's this kid (this has happened twice now), that sits in the same building as I waiting for a class (I'm guessing), and generally at the same computer, that seems so mad when he's using it, he pounds on the keyboard, mouse, and table (which really doesn't help me using the computer), and then slams it shut when he's done. Yeah, like that's gonna help.
So, I'm excited for the weekend, actually almost all the stuff between now and Sun is good (not really excited about a few classes, but I deal well). Tonight is Survivor (yes, I like reality shows. DEAL), and CSI premiere. Tomorrow I get 3 hrs of break between my classes and I get to watch Mr. Hottie tomorrow, Men in Trees is on tomorrow night. Sat is the Hog Roast at the Harley store, only its supposed to be cold, and sun is a local art show/sale. Course its' supposed to be cold from now until sometime next week so that sucks, but...
Actually I should be used to this right? Considering where I live with our harsh winters, and I do, I just have to have the adjustment period that's required for my body, while it's switching from Summer to winter. There are some gorgeous days in the winter, when it's cold.
So, yeah, I'll see if I can have something exciting to write about next time.

Bringin' some attitude.

So, the cops people finally took my advice, and (though unofficially) made a Hott Cops week. So, here ya go:
From Palm Beach County, FL: Deputy Rick Santos; Chattanooga, TN: Officer Derrick Pendergrass, Officer Pete Miller; Palm Springs, CA: Officer Anthony Pilutik.
Chattanooga, TN: Officer Brian Lockhart, Officer Chris Sims, Sgt Barry Burns; Pittsburgh, PA: Sgt. Craig Campbell; Spokane, WA: Officer Brian Eckersley, Officer Kurt Vigesaa.

Why do people always say they don't have anything illegal in their vehicles and the cops can check wheny they KNOW there is? You don't have to let the cops search your vehicle. They can't legally search it if you deny the search unless there's something in plain view.
Also, how come the drugs magically appear?
And by the way, I proved on my birthday that you can say no to a stranger when they ask if you want a ride. It can be done. Course I'm not a prostitute and the guy could have been trying to be nice, or maybe he just wanted some of my alcohol, either way, my ass wasn't getting in that car.
I am never gonna understand why people shove needles (or anything else, for that matter) up their ass. Out of all the uncomfortable places to shove stuff. And then to have a cop (I'm really sorry that has come to be in your job description) pull it out. It hurts just thinking about it.
Also, you might wanna know how much drugs make it so you are able to be arrested. I love the conversation between Officer Pendergrass and the passenger in the green truck:
Officer P: Half a joint and a little bit of marijuana
Bearded Guy: Out west they just give you a ticket
Officer P: Well, go back out West, You're on the East Coast now man
I love that.

Alright, I've giving out 2 Hott Cop Statuettes tonight (cause I couldn't pick between the two).

One for Officer Pilutik, cause he was too young to buy his gun and ammunition when he was hired, no wait, that was just a perk of the evening. ;)

The other to Officer Pendergrass. I know I enjoy watching him, and he reminds me of my guy, course he was also on both eps tonight.

And because blogger's being stupid (and I forgot to add these yesterday), had a little problem getting you guys' statuettes up. But I finally did.

And as I type this, we've got a thunderstorm (and lightening, this thing is really going), so I'm feeling for my guys. I hope they don't have to get out in this, cause I know those rain slickers don't help a damn bit.

Wait for Me

OK, so there's this really hott guy I've been crushing on for awhile that comes into the Business Cafe when I'm here, usually between 12 and 2 on Fridays. And he's about 6 ft, shorter brown hair, always wearing nice blue jeans with a black belt, and some nice biker boots (can't see much of these cause of the longer jeans), usually comes in, in a biker leather jacket (only made by a crotchrocket (?) company) that says Hurley and is black and white, and lately he's been carrying his helmet, a full face helmet that's gray with some kind of design.
Anyways, I was conversing with Goddess about him, and she kept telling me to go talk to him. And I'm pretty damn shy when it comes to talking to guys, so of course I didn't. But he kept looking my way today. That could be because I was sitting in front of the door, so maybe he was looking for the guy that came to meet with him later, or he was paying attention to the class that was in a classroom behind me.
I don't know if I'm regretting not talking to him (probably), or maybe I just want him to come back so I can stare at him some more

Whatever

The Way I Am

Whatever
Dre just let it run
Ay yo turn the beat up a little bit
Ay yo, this song is for anyone
Fuck it just shut up and listen

Ay yo
I sit back with this pack of zigzags
And this bag of this weed
It gives me the shit needed to be
The most meanest emcee on this - on this earth
Cause since birth I've been cursed with this curse to just cursed
And just blurt this bezerk and bizarre shit that works
And it sells and it helps in its self
To relieve all this tension dispensing me
Sentence is getting it, stress has been eating me recently
All through this chest and I rest to get peacefully
But at least have the decency in you to leave me alone
When you freaks see me out in the streets when I'm eating or feedin' my daughter
To not come and speak to me
I don't know you and no I don't owe you a motherfuckin thing
I'm not Mr. NSYNC and I'm not what your friends think
I'm not Mr. Friendly
I can be a prick, if you tip me my tank is on empty
No patience is in me and if you offend me I'm lifting you ten feet
In the air, I don't care who was there and who saw me just jaw you
Go call you a lawyer file you a lawsuit
I'll smile in the courtroom and buy you a wardrobe
I'm tired of arguing - I don't mean to mean but it's all I can be
It's just me

And I am
Whatever you say I am
If I wasn't, then why would I say I am?
In the papers, the news, everyday I am
Radio won't even play my jam

Cause I am
Whatever you say I am
If I wasn't, then why would I say I am?
In the papers, the news, everyday I am
I don't know it's just the way I am

Sometimes I just feel like my father, I hate to be bothered
With all of this nonsense it's constant
And "oh it's just lyrical content!"
The song "Guilty Conscience" has gotten such rotten responses
And all of this controversy circles me
And it seems like the media immediately points a finger at me
So I point one back at 'em
But not the index or the pinky or the ring or the thumb
It's the one you put up when you don't give a fuck
When you won't just put up with the bullshit they pull
Cause they full of shit too
When a dude's gettin bullied and shoots up your school
And they blame it on Marilyn - and the heroin
Where were the parents at?
And look at where it's at middle America
Now it's a tragedy
Now it's so sad to see
An upper class city having this happening
Then attack Eminem cause I rap this way
But I'm glad cause they feed me the fuel
That I need for the fire to burn and it's burnin' and I have returned

And I am
Whatever you say I am
If I wasn't, then why would I say I am?
In the papers, the news, everyday I am
Radio won't even play my jam

Cause I am
Whatever you say I am
If I wasn't, then why would I say I am?
In the papers, the news, everyday I am
I don't know it's just the way I am

I'm so sick and tired of being admired
That I wish that I would just die or get fired
And drop from my label and stop with the fables
I'm not gonna be able to top what my name is
And pigeon holdin' to some poppy sensations
They cop me rotation at Rock 'N' Roll stations
And I just do not have the patience
To deal with this cocky Caucasians
Who think I'm some wigga who just tries to be black
Cause I talk with an accent and grab on my balls
So they always keep asking the same fucking questions
What school did I go to?
What hood I grew up in?
The why? The who, what?
When and where and the how?
Till I'm grabbing my hair and I'm tearing it out
You've been driving me crazy, I can't take it
I'm racing, I'm pacing, I stand and I sit
And I'm thankful for every fan that I get
But I can't take a shit in the bathroom
Without someone standing by it
No I won't sign your autograph
You can call me an asshole
I'm glad cause

And I am
Whatever you say I am
If I wasn't, then why would I say I am?
In the papers, the news, everyday I am
Radio won't even play my jam

Cause I am
Whatever you say I am
If I wasn't, then why would I say I am?
In the papers, the news, everyday I am
I don't know it's just the way I am

They didn't have you where I come from

What's the point? The point of life? Like I've said I lead a VERY boring life. And well right now I don't see the point of getting up everyday going to class/work, coming home reading textbooks/writing papers. Only to go to bed and do it all over again. I don't see anything bright about the future. I'm very bored with my life. So until someone tells me the point of the whole thing. I say fuck it.

I don't want to be a bandage if the wound is not mine

This is quite a long post, but there's more or less interesting stuff at the end.

This was sent to me through my womenwhoridemotorcycles yahoo group, enjoy:
"We the sensible people of the United States, in an attempt to help everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, avoid more riots, keep our nation safe, promote positive behavior, and secure the blessings of debt-free liberty to ourselves and our great-great great-grand children, hereby try one more time to ordain and establish some common sense guidelines for the terminally whiny, guilt ridden, delusional, and other liberal bed-wetters. We hold these truths to be self evident: that a whole lot of people are confused by the Bill of Rights and are so dim they require a Bill of NON-Rights."
ARTICLE I: You do not have the right to a new car, big screen TV, or any other form of wealth. More power to you if you can legally acquire them, but no one is guaranteeing anything.
ARTICLE II: You do not have the right to never be offended. This country is based on freedom, and that means freedom for everyone not just you!You may leave the room, turn the channel, express a different opinion, etc.; but the world is full of idiots, and probably always will be.
ARTICLE III: You do not have the right to be free from harm. If you stick a screwdriver in your eye, learn to be more careful, do not expect the tool manufacturer to make you and all your relatives independently wealthy.
ARTICLE IV: You do not have the right to free food and housing. Americans are the most charitable people to be found, and will gladly help anyone in need, but we are quickly growing weary of subsidizing generation after generation of professional couch potatoes who achieve nothing more than the creation of another generation of professional couch potatoes. (This one is my pet peeve..get an education and go to work....don't expect everyone else to take care of you!)
ARTICLE V: You do not have the right to free health care. That would be nice, but from the looks of public housing, we're just not interested in public health care.
ARTICLE VI: You do not have the right to physically harm other people. If you kidnap, rape, intentionally maim, or kill someone, don't be surprised if the rest of us want to see you fry in the electric chair.
ARTICLE VII: You do not have the right to the possessions of others. If you rob, cheat, or coerce away the goods or services of other citizens, don't be surprised if the rest of us get together and lock you away in a place where you still won't have the right to a big screen color TV or a life of leisure.
ARTICLE VIII: You do not have the right to a job. All of us sure want you to have a job, and will gladly help you along in hard times, but we expect you to take advantage of the opportunities of education and vocational training laid before you to make yourself useful. (AMEN!)
ARTICLE IX: You do not have the right to happiness. Being an American means that you have the right to PURSUE happiness, which by the way, is a lot easier if you are unencumbered by an over abundance of idiotic laws created by those of you who were confused by the Bill of Rights.
ARTICLE X: This is an English speaking country. We don't care where you are from, English is our language. Learn it or go back to wherever you came from! (lastly....)
ARTICLE XI: You do not have the right to change our country's history or heritage. This country was founded on the belief in God. And yet, you are given the freedom to believe in any religion, any faith, or no faith at all; with no fear of persecution. The phrase IN GOD WE TRUST is part of our heritage and history, and if you are uncomfortable with it, TOUGH!!!!

Ugh, I want a break. How sad is that? It's the 5th week of school and I'm burned out. I blame it on not having enough vacation time this summer, as well as not having a spring break week. I worked during last year's spring break, and so my spring break was the week at the end of May when we went to Chicago. I haven't had a fun vacation, of more than a day away from life since then. I know, once I get out of college and into the working world, I really won't have any of those.
I'm just longing for a day or days where I can get away from work and school stuff. That's all I did this past weekend. I worked Sat, and then came home and mowed lawns, cause I had to get them done before it rained, I was pretty damn close too, it was starting just as I finished. And then Sun I read homework all damn day. And I'm gonna have to sign off and read some more as I have my first test tomorrow night. I'm just so sick of it all. I was very tempted to just skip class today and not do anything. But then once you get away, you always have to come back. That's what I hate the most. I really hate my boring life. And yes, I know it's my choice to make it exciting or not, but I'm a pretty boring person. The most fun I've had lately, was when I went to Porky's a couple weeks ago, I loved that, I love being aroung motorcycles and riding on them. That's probably the one unboring thing about me.

Course, as much as I want to get away from school shit, I'm very scared of what comes after. I think my biggest fear, now and always, is the future. The unknown of what's gonna happen after the end of college. I always knew at the end of high school, I'd go to college, and that would prolong the unknown for 4 years, well now it's been 5, and I'm graduating in Dec and I have no damn idea what I'm gonna do after. And that just freaks me out.

Lookit the hotties tonight

OK, so quite a few hotties on the season premiere of COPS tonight. I'm sure if you go over to Goddess' site, she'll have pics for ya. Well, that was a very exciting first segment, the officer pulls over a red camero for a cracked windshield, and as he's talking with them, a car hits this guy on a bicycle. And if you don't know it's coming, it's just BAM! and it happens, hell it's even bad if you know it's coming. In the second one, in Palm County, FL, a guy catches another guy sleeping with his wife. It sucks (I bet), that the guy got caught, but then all of them signed the release to have their faces shown on cops. WTF?
And the third one in Martin County, FL, a couple detectives get some info on a guy with crack cocaine, and you can tell he's a crack dealer, cause he's got multiple gold rings, a nice looking gold watch, gold earrings, and a few gold necklaces/chains, plus his tons of money, none of these go with his look of the Latino (I think that's the PC term) in a tank top, with a straw hat riding a bicycle. And he's got a container of rock down the front of his pants and he calls it candy, yeah right. So, they test the rock (candy) and the detective says "it tests positive for cocaine, you're candy, so I guess we can call it candy cocaine...so you're the candy cocaine man".

Second episode:
First segment: Sheriff's deputies pull a car over at a gas station, under suspicion of a drug deal, then find out the passengers don't have seatbelts, plus there's open containers in the car. And who answers their phone when they're being detained by the cops?
Hott Cops tonight: From Martin County, FL: Detective Danny Cunningham, and the K-9 guy, but they didn't give us a name
Palm Beach County, FL: the guy standing behind the black kid at the end.
Palm Springs, CA: Officer Anthony Pilutik
Chattanooga, TN: Officer Aaron Williams, Officer Derrick Pendergrass

And the Hott Cop Statuette goes to Deputy Jarrod Foster from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Dept in Florida.
By the way, I had a hard time deciding between Officer Pilutik, Officer Pendergrass, and Deputy Foster tonight, but Deputy Foster won cause of his ink. Plus, ya can't really see much of Officer Pendergrass tonight, he was on maybe a couple seconds at the beginning of the last segment.

The concert

Well, it was an interesting evening, course when is a concert not? Let's see we had everything that a normal concert has: wierd 80s costumes, drunk people, cops, people throwing up, lots of beer spills, broken glass, lots of complaints for relocates, fights (ok, maybe not quite), tons of people looking for the smoking patio. What else is there? Oh, there was music too.
I actually didn't get the door I signed up for, I was one the north side, which is usually pretty slow, unless it's a bball game. I think I might have had 30 people at my door.
And of course the drunks were fun to watch, after the opening act, the line to the beer stand or the id bracelets (I couldn't quite tell which it was), was pretty long. And then about halfway through the line to the ATM was long, I was thinking: now that they spent all their money on beer, they had to go get more. I was surprised the ATM didn't run out of money, someone must have come earlier and stocked that thing. Most of the drunks were just walking drunk, I did have a few entertaining ones. One guy had beers in both hands, stopped and asked a guy to help him with the door, the guy kinda looked at him, so the dude with beer, walks right up to the wall, touches it and then walks away. I was thinking, maybe you should just put those beers down and walk away. I had one chick that left (we have a policy that if you leave, you can't come back in, unless you're at the smoking patio, then you're not really leaving), and she tried to come back, I had to tell her a couple times she couldn't come in (no sympathy from me, even though she was crying), finally a couple of her friends see her and come out and start chatting with her. Apparently she didn't have her ID (cause it was with her BF), and she was 21, yeah good reason to cry.
We also had one woman (I didn't actually see this), who had 2 full beers (the cups are probably about 8 oz each) and fell down, spilling both of them, but just jumped right back up and got some more, that was probably my biggest beer spill. We had some huge spill outside the women's restroom, as well as tons inside. I heard someone threw up in one of the women's rest rooms, and there apparently was quite a bit of it. I'm guessing it was from a lady I saw, that kept covering her mouth, and I kept thinking, just go to the rest room, I really don't wanna see this, but finally she went back inside.
I also had a lady that claimed some guy hit her, that got the DPS officers and a supervisor to come to my door and chat with her, I found out later the paramedics looked at her. I had lots of people looking for the smoking patio, and after I told them, every single person asked how far, as if it would have made a difference. But I guess they thought since I was at a door, I should let them smoke, sure I could do that, but then they wouldn't be coming back in. We also had one of the beer signs break and had glass on the floor. It first came through as a broken glass, and I was trying to figure out where that would have come from since the concessions people don't give the glass bottles (for smirnoff and other stuff) to the patrons, and no one was let in with glass.
But I was surprised how quickly everyone left afterwards. Course I haven't worked a concert since the Christian thing we had (not that that was really a concert) and Slipknot before that, and that was April, so yeah it's been awhile. So the projected time for us to be done was 11:30, and that was pretty much on time. I got home at 11:45, packed my bag for today (since I came straight from class to work last night), and went to bed. And then I woke up 5 minutes before my bus and I'm slowly fully waking up now. I figured we wouldn't get done until after midnight last night.
Oh, and I almost forgot to mention all the cute guys. We had some nice looking sheriff's deputies, though I only saw them once, when I was going up to my door, saw their car a couple times. The DPS officers, one of them was cute. Older guys for the city cops. And tons of yummy looking concert goers.
Oh, and some of the costumes, I guess they decided since most of the music was 80s stuff, they should dress in 80s wear. They weren't that bad, but I know we had at least 3 guys with mullet wigs, one guy had long brown hair on the bottom and a short blond wig on top, pair that with his bleached jeans and vest, and black cowboy boots, you couldn't miss him.
I haven't quite figured out why people will pay $77 for tickets, and god knows how much for beer, and of course most everyone had to go for a smoke at least 5 times throughout the night, I was wondering how much they were missing between going out for a smoke, and getting beer.

Fun from Sodapop

Yep, Sodapop stuck another meme on her site, and as well know I love doing them, so here ya go:
I get 5 words and I have to post what the first thought is for each word, that enters my mind. So here we go.
military: hott guys, yummy uniforms
accountability: I have no idea what this means (second thought: my guess accountable for something, I'm pretty good at that.)
anger: not something I handle well
diet: I don't diet, I eat what I want when I want, and I still wiegh 120lbs
smoke: can't stand it, can't breathe it, hate it.

Hope that will hold you all until I'm awake enough to post about work later. It's wierd, I'm so nervous about it even though I know there's no need to be nervous, maybe it's just cause I've worked in about a month (at the center). I had to swap my jeans 4 times today, cause we have to wear jeans for concerts. And I'm very nervous about supper, cause I really don't have that much time to eat anything, so I packed some granola bars that I hope will keep me awake. Even though I know that once people start coming in the doors, I won't need anything to keep me awake, I'll be awake till I leave, and then quite a bit after I get home, even when I need to sleep.
Hope everyone else has a fun and exciting night.

Was I strong?

Well, this week will be interesting. Let's see I'm still way behind on my criminal justice readings, and I still don't understand my philosophy class. So, I've spent at least 3 hours last night and 4 hours today trying to get caught up on my reading (I always used to think I was a fast reader, course it makes a big difference if it's a book for fun or if it's a textbook, no matter how interesting that textbook is), and I finally got the 2 chapters for today read, but I still have other previous chapters in the books I haven't read. And tonight after I get home after 8:30, I get to write a paper for my philosophy class, ah crap, just remembered I'm supposed to read a chapter for my Enviro Soc class tomorrow. And tomorrow, I have to do all my reading and homework for Fri as well as Thurs, good thing I only have 1 class Thurs. Then Thurs, I'm working the Def Leppard/Journey concert, that will get me home well after midnight (even though the projected end time is 11:30, I've been working concerts for years, I know I won't be done til midnight). So, it'll be straight to bed after getting home from that. And Fri will be a normal day. I'll probably have to mow lawns that afternoon. Lucky me. Oh, and then I signed up to work volleyball on Sat, so yeah. My weekend will be full of work and homework. I hate that.

So, Sunday wasn't too bad. Got to my aunt's around noon, my cousin, that I haven't seen in 2 years was there, I decided that if he was there, I was gonna be there. I just hate that everyone keeps asking me what I'm gonna do after I graduate in December, NO I DON'T KNOW!!! It's hard following a brother that knew exactly what he wanted when he started college, got out and 4 yrs and had a job already lined up when he got out. And then with my change in views on what I want to do, well that doesn't make it any easier. There was a time, that I knew exactly what I wanted to be (a cop), but shit changed and that's not gonna happen anymore. Course, if I could be my dream (an artist), life would be good, but life doesn't like me.

I'm also very much panicking about my classes, I haven't quite decided if they're harder than I thought, if I'm just freaked cause this is my last semester or what.
Environmental Sociology: I'm taking this to fill in extra Soc courses for my major. But, I really have no interest in enviro soc, so it's a lot of reading on something I'm not entirely caring about. Though it is interesting to listen to other people talk on the subject. But, I feel really lost in that class.
Social Psychology: This I'm taking to fulfill a requirement for my Criminal Justice major, it's proabably my easiest class. Plus it's filed under the psych dept, I took a social psych that was considered a soc class, and I've taken an intro to psych class, so it kinda overlaps on those two. I'm just annoyed that I had to spend $62 for a clicker thing for that class, it's supposed to be easier for the profs for quizzes, my prof was trying real hard to sell it, saying we could use it for the rest of our time at college, FYI: this is my last semester, just let me write my answers down on paper.
Free Will, Fate, and Moral Responsibility: Yeah, I don't understand this class, I think it will be my hardest. Course philosophy classes seem to be hard for me anyway. I signed up for this when I was considering a minor in philosophy (cause I screwed up, I really don't even like phil, i just thought you had to take 201 before 230, so then after those 2 and a required other 300-400 level class I already had 3, and you only need 5 for a minor), but I decided that 2 phil classes in one semester was too much, so this one is just here. It sounded pretty interesting, I'm just having the hardest time getting it. We alreayd had one paper turned in for it, and as we were discussing that paper, I realized I did it wrong.
Police and Society: this is for my CJ major, I wanted to take it, cause it sounded interesting. It's new this semester. It's actually pretty interesting I haven't been bored with it yet.
Criminology: This is also for my CJ major, I'm just taking it cause it also sounds fun and this is the first time I could get in.

So, yeah, I'm lost in the enviro soc and phil class, and the others are ok, it just seems like a lot.

there's never a wish better than this

Ah, another exciting day in the life of me. I won't take any offense if you don't consider it exciting, hell it's pretty hard for me to consider it exciting, CAUSE IT'S NOT EVEN CLOSE.
Let's see, slacked off this morning, walked to a local bakery and bough $14 worth of pastries, yummy shit, that may last me a couple days. Slacked off a little more, started some intriguing reading for my criminology class.
I'm so sick of my parents calling me and deciding that I'm gonna rearrange my schedule to do something for them. It's so annoying. My dad did that on Wed night, he's trying to hook up a wireless connection at the rental property, and was having troubles with it, so he asked me to bring the laptop over to help. That was on Sat, and then he found out we had to physically connect to the modem to figure out the prob, so he asks me when is good for me, but doesn't tell me if we're gonna do it then, or give me a time. So, on Wed, about 5:30, he calls me up and tells me I'm helping him with the modem (like I don't have other things I'm trying to do, I'm already behind on my reading, cause I slacked off last weekend, and well I was trying to get some other shit done for the next day), so I went over there, found out I needed to install the modem on my comp, but had to go get my CD drive (cause it's external, my laptop's nice and thin), and of course my CD drive doesn't always like to work, and of course this would be one of those times. And then today, he calls me at 8:30, which was OK cause I was already up and doing shit, but I would have been really pissed if the phone woke me up. I'm doing this (more or less) voluntarily, god forbid you work on my schedule, when I'm fully awake and dressed. And then this afternoon, he told me I was going to the grocery store with him, this is actually not too bad, cause he always buys me food when we go grocery shopping, but I had just started my reading, and it's kinda hard to get in the mood to read boring textbooks, so when I'm in the mood I like to finish what I have to read. And then, I got a nice shower walking home, cause I was carrying 5 bags (him 2 and a 12 pack of pop), and it was pouring. That wasn't too bad cause after we got unloaded, I went back out and soaked up the rain. Now if you know me, you know I love the rain, I've been kinda bummed this season, cause it's been raining a lot at night when I can't enjoy it, so I'm taking every chance I can get. And on with the boringness of my day, ate aupper, watched TV, and came back home to read my email. Where I was pleasantly surprised. I got a nice comforting email from my friend, Patch.
I met Patch, I believe when I was in middle school, that's about 10 yrs ago now (where did the time go?), through AOL instant messenger, and we've obviously swapped tons of IM's, and emails, and I've had a couple really nice phone calls with him. I wouldn't really know what to call our relationship, just that I know it's more than friendship. Anyways, he keeps telling me that he's gonna come and visit me, but it seems like I keep getting my hopes up, only to be disappointed yet again (I've gotten very used to disappointment, though not always from him, actually some of the cops I know started it, sadly). Sometimes I wish he would just drop everything and come, but as we all know, there's shit that gets in the way. So, anyway in this email he told me he might be able to make the trip. And I really wanna believe him, but...
And tomorrow, I get to run away and spend the day with my extended family. Not a bad thing, but I have to spend 4 hrs in the car with my parents, 2 hrs each way. Not so much the most fun in the world. If I pick the right music, we should be ok.

I'm so afraid to love you, more afraid to lose

Why do people believe that because I'm sitting next to them, they have to look at me? I'm glad I'm so interesting to you people, when you should be paying attention to class. Cause God forbid we pay attention to the professor. I don't mind if my screen saver is up, cause that's kinda the point of my screen saver, it's not for me to stare at, I know what's in it.
Which brings me to another point, why do people not want their laptops to fall asleep while they're in class? It's actually good for the computer. See, the whole point of a screen saver is so, what's on your screen doesn't get imprinted on the screen, and the whole point of a computer falling asleep/hibernating/going into standby is for it to save power, which is good. Most likely, you're computer's running on battery power so its conserving its power. But oh no, if that screen goes blank it's very very bad.
